I’m a us citizen and my husband is sick, in constant pain and he needs an emergency surgery. He case was approved / all required documents today (feb 2 2019). I know it’s getting close but the surgery can not wait and needs to be done ASAP. The medical care in his home country is very bad and they can’t perform surgery. How can I expedite this ?

You can contact NVC and ask about an expedite, if it is possible and how to submit the documents needed.  If his condition is truly an emergency, which sounds like he needs surgery immediately, then an expedite will not be processed quickly, even if successful, so you should make other plans.  If it is not really an "emergency," and he can wait, try for the expedite, but you are near the end, just waiting for the medical and interview, so he will be in the US soon if he can pass the medical exam in his home country, which seems doubtful with his current condition.  Have you tried for a B-1 visa so he can come to the US for the surgery, then return home to wait out the rest of the process?  Also as another person mentioned, check with your insurance coverage for emergency medical care outside the US.  If he is on your insurance now, as my husband who lives in Brazil is, your insurance may cover emergency medical expenses for him in his home country.  Good luck, I hope things work out for both of you.

Sorry  not knowing what the emergency is for  it is hard to say

but have you tried getting his drs in  his country to consult USC dr to do the proceedure

they can actually process for him to be flown in for surgery

I believe he would have to return after his recovery time to finish the original spouse visa in his country but at least he would have proper care

many from other countries are flown in for surgeries

emergency surgery usually means emergency

not sure how u can even wait for this to be done

i know it is scary to have surgery in many countries but do it there before things get worse

you would not like to loose him

After we married my insurance covered him  "out of country"

we had to pay for services upfront and submit a bill for reimbersement

Guys I appreciate all of your help . It’s in west Africa . And let’s just say that the most doctors over there do more harm then good, not well trained at all. I do not feel comfortable sharing his condition (sosorry) but I hope you all can understand. All I know is that , he needs help. Im just waiting for the damn interview date to just come already !!

A B medical visa could cover that, I would start by speaking to the Insurer.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Ok  now that we  know West Africa,  i understand why you don't want surgery there as it only takes 2 yrs of medical school in Morocco, for instance,  to be a dr

and one told me when i had a serious sore throat  it was the change of weather from my country and i had been  in morocco 2 months already /this man had no knowledge of bacteria or viral infections

so my son mailed me medicine

but even if you got an expediated interview,  this can backfire

a dr knowing the man needs surgery can  should report this in  the medical exam done for the interview

and a CO in West Africa will probably say "Get the surgery done here" with a 221g for proving it or worse

it is West Africa and visa can be denied as many are
