My fiance has been approved--his visa is in hand. I've cancelled my flight to France in June (and lost $1500--DON't USE NWA!!!) We will be marrying this june and beginning the process of applying for adjustment of status. I've been doing a lot of reading on the forum in the past 2 weeks (just found your site!) One thing I have a question about is the supplemental medical form I 693A.....I know he had his medical visit with the doctor required by the embassy, but that medical record is sealed. I see that he needs a copy when we apply for AOS. We didn't know that until now. I assume that is important for him to obtain before he leaves his country, right?

Also, Can anyone give me advice on another question. It looks like from the timelines, that after filing AOS there is about 30-60 days for an interview. I am a French teacher who travels with students...I have a trip planned to France next March. A friend told me not to take students next March 2008 in case we had our interview because it could not be rescheduled. Is that true? Just my luck something would happen with our case and I would be out of the country.

Also for him to travel with my students, we would have to apply for AP and that takes about 90 days., right? This is so complicated!! Maybe it would be better not to try to travel with students next year, but I'll really disappoint my seniors who have been studying for 4 years and waiting for this trip.

Make sure he gets a copy of his DS-3025 (vacc record) from the panel physician who does his medical. That will help with your I-693a.

As far as your AOS goes.... the timeline is anybody's guess. I wouldn't count on anything. You might be transferred to California, in which case, you would be approved without interview.... that that's also not certain.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

It is best he brings some form of his French vaccinations, yes.

You will be fine with a March 08 travel date. You can always tell the local office if it happens to be then. Hopefully it will be sooner though.

AP takes about 90 days to get, yes. Apply for it with your AOS packet.

:guides: - it's all in there.

Good luck!

My fiance has been approved--his visa is in hand. I've cancelled my flight to France in June (and lost $1500--DON't USE NWA!!!)

Or, don't buy non-refundable tickets in future. Most tickets bought of Expedia et al. are non-refundable, so its got nothing to do with NWA.

Also, Can anyone give me advice on another question. It looks like from the timelines, that after filing AOS there is about 30-60 days for an interview.

That sounds awfully fast to me. It really depends on the DO though.

March 2008 seems awfully far in the future to have an interview. I guess that depends when you file AOS though.

Also for him to travel with my students, we would have to apply for AP and that takes about 90 days., right?

Correct, more like 70 days though, but near enough.

This is so complicated!! Maybe it would be better not to try to travel with students next year, but I'll really disappoint my seniors who have been studying for 4 years and waiting for this trip.

Well there really isn't anything to stop you travelling apart from the interview, of course your husband will have to stay put if he doesn't have his AP. You're usually notified about a month in advance of your interview, although I'm sure there are people on here that got less notice.

Congrats Rhonda!

Check with your airline, most the times your tickets are good for one year... that could even be your ticket for the trip next march!! You can't get your money back, you can't transfer your ticket to other person, but you can use it later...

In the worst case, you could go to France and come back with the fiance :)

Thanks for everyone who responded quickly. No unfortunately, the trip money is gone. NWA would not allow me to transfer my ticket or even get a travel voucher for future travel. By the way, was not purchased at Expedia, etc--was purchased directly from NWA. I have an e-mail in to customer service but I don't expect any good news there. I begged saying what a good customer i was--4 international flights in the past year! And that I hated to take my business elsewhere for future flights, but would if necessary. Anyway, even though it is a lot of money, my fiance will be here in less than two weeks after being stuck in France for 1 year and 3 months...so it is a small price to pay to have him here.

Thanks again everyone!

When you bought that ticket it would have told you that it was non-refundable though, and you most likely chose to ignore that, as do I when I buy tickets direct from United.

Just a note, I've only used NWA for flying between Canada and the US and I've never lost any money. If you called to cancel, I suppose you may have lost the money. You can change the dates on the tickets for a fee and they're still good. I've done this before, and flew at a later date. Surprised they didn't tell you this.

Yes, because you asked for basically a refund (on a non-refundable ticket). Had you had alternate dates in mind, you could've changed it & only paid a nominal fee.

Or, call again & hope for another person, it works sometimes!

No, I was not given that option...I had alternative travel dates...because I will be traveling with students to France in March of 08, it was a no go.....That's why I posted it here to see if others had had this same problem.

Or, call again & hope for another person, it works sometimes!
