Yes. It absolutely will if he filed under 3 years. He’ll be denied and have to refile when he is a resident for 5 years.

From what I know, is that you are not considered divorced, until you sign the divorce papers and they are sent to the whatever department is working with divorce cases.

I think your friend would be fine. He just needs to answer honestly and everything will be good.

The other thing that will make a difference - are they still living together? Or is she moving out/getting separated. You must be in a marital union, ie. living together.

I did bring my passport, but not for that reason.

I verbally told him when I have been out of the country since I filed my application with approximate dates... My passport isn't always stamped when leaving/entering so that isn't a reliable way of seeing dates.

I have a lot of stamps from to Canada since I have family there and some cousins, I hope it will not be suspicious.

Nope that won't be suspicious at all. :)

I would write down the dates you have been out of the country since you filed your N-400, and be ready to share that when you are at the interview. If you have it written down, it'll be easier than trying to remember the dates while you're there.

I just got out of my interview. I was scheduled at 10:00 am, I didn't go in until about noon tho. The interview took a little over an hour!

Anyways, I walked in and the IO said that we would have to work on 2 cases because my I-751 was pending. He was having issues pulling the form out, and told me I might have to be reschedule for tomorrow. I mentioned I was taking a flight right after the interview and wouldn't be back until Saturday (which is true). He said he would try something else and that it was my lucky day because it had work. Went thru the I-751, and he approved it.

On with the citizenship interview. First, civics questions.

-Name one war that was fought in the 1800.

-Name one of the largest rivers in the US.

-Who is the governor in your state?

-What did Susan B. Anthony do?

-What is the capital of your state?

-When is Independence Day celebrated?

After that, I had to read: who can vote? And then I had to write: citizens can vote.

Then the standard yes/no questions. After that, I was recommended for approval. I had a citation for inattentive driving in which I paid a fine of like $132.00, I hope that does not give me any issues.

Documents he made copies of: green card, driver's license, passport, marriage certificate, spouse's birth certificate, and certified copy of the resolution of my citation (which he kept too).

Yes, they asked me how many countries had I visit in the last 3 years. I mentioned all of the countries I had visit and then he asked me if any of those visits had been longer than 6 months. I said no, and then we moved on.
