Hi,

I am an F1 student in the process of AOS (sending package in March). What are my options when it comes to health insurance? What is the most affordable insurance I can get? Can I get for example ObamaCare? Is it good?

Thank you.

Either check with the International Student office at your school, for sure they have resources to guide you. Alternatively, couldn't your USC spouse add you as a partner? I reckon Calif recognizes gay couples as spousal partners for marital benefits.

F1 visa students do not have any federal health insurance requirements to meet. However, some schools will require international students to buy school-sponsored insurance coverage. If there are no mandatory insurance plans given by your school, the best way is to compare and shop for the most beneficial plan online, as most international students are not eligible for Obamacare. This site https://www.visitorguard.com/international-student-insurance/  has some useful information that could be of help.
