Really nice dress Lisa. I would suggest something elegant, but comfortable for shoes. I hope you have a great wedding day!

Pauline, this is going to sound so cliche, but we're doin it barefoot.

And I haven't worked out the logistics of how this is done, but before we walk down the aisle, I'm thinkin we'd put these on.....

I find it quirky & I like quirky.... but I'm not really sure about the look of it...and plus, if we put a runner (cos who wants me to get my dress filthy with sand)...the flip flops won't work, and the barefoot bit will look stupid too

Ahh, there's plenty of time, hahahahah

Oh! and our invites are going to be actual messages in a bottle! I know, a little OTT, but wth....this is our last one to have fun with!

I think barefoot is a great idea lisa especially for a beach wedding!! I wouldnt even bother with the flip flops I dont think they are necessary.

I just want the flip flops after we're pronounced cos it imprints 'just married' on the sand when ya walk.

Kitchy, but I dunno...like I said, if we use a runner, the effect will be lost.

I've been checkin out your links on shoes, they're great...thx!

I dunno - don't come round here much anymore...I think the allure of strictly OT chatting is wearing off for me :( I am looking at the removing conditions page now and then...but I'm around sometimes! Real life is getting in the way I think.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

Lisa,

The messages in a bottle for the invites sounds so cool. Bare foot or the flip flops will look fine. I'm sure you'll work out something before the big day. When is the wedding by the way? Or have you already said a date and I missed it in your post?

Hey Pauline...yeah we don't know when the wedding date is, but here's a c&p:

we just got NOA1 (yes we've been one of the slowest couples in history, lol) Dunno how things will work out and how that will fit into our schedules...if he gets his interview in mid Nov, by the time he gives notice & gets things done we're talkin mid Dec...and if that's the case, we figure he won't come til after the hols (give him one more Christmas with his family)...so if that's the case, Jan 19th. That'll actually be our 8 year anniversary.

If the interview/approval comes in Oct, he'll leave Nov, so then we'll just plan it for the week after his arrival.

The invites are actually going to be announcements...we're planning a wedding blessing ceremony in England for 2009. It actually is much easier to do the smallish thing now instead of making everyone come over. But I wanna make it as wedding-y as poss, cos you know how the best laid plans go...

I found this woman who does the invites herself, and she wants $4 each. Which is GREAT considering it's got the hand-burned custom label, the invite, a nice box for each filled with raffia straw, and sand and shells in the bottle. But there are two problems...one, is the bottle is plastic (tacky to me) and two is I'm not putting sand in the bottle cos how the hell do ya get the invite out without getting sand all over the place?

I'd be pissed off if I got sent an invite that gets ####### on my floor, lol.

And I think for our loved ones (we're not sending them out to everyone & their mother)...they would keep it. And who would keep a plastic bottle? But D thinks glass bottles won't travel well to UK, and I'm just annoyed at what the shipping will be, lol.

Anyways, so much to do! Thanks everyone for listening to me & being so great with ideas....it's weird...we've been together for so long, and we've been engaged now for a year and a half. We postponed filing due to real life stuff, and now that it's filed and now that I got my dress...I'm all OMG I'M GETTING MARRIED! lol. which has made me soooooo emotional. I even cried at that 'inspiration' thread's video.

In fact, a bit of a story here: there's this place in York in the mkt which sells New Zealand shell jewelry. I was going to include it in a post to HA (she's in York atm),but then I forgot what kind of shells they were, so I went a googlin. D had bought me this really pretty paua heart necklace, and he bought himself this maori bone carved charm. There were all sorts of charm designs, and the guy said they each had their own meaning...so D picks the one he likes the best, and the guy says it's for infinite love. That *I* need to wear the necklace for a week first before D puts it on so it'll take on my spirit. So ok, I did, and D hasn't taken it off since.

Lo and behold, on my google quest, I come across his charm. And this is what it says:

The twist with its crisscross form represents the many paths of life and love and as such is regarded as the original eternity symbol. The single twist in particular shows the joining together of two people for eternity. Even though they sometimes move away from each other on their own journeys, they will always come together again sharing their lives and blending to become one. It tells how the strength of bond of friendship, loyalty and love will last forever.

So how many kleenex have I gone thru today? lol

Yes Lisa weddings or the thought of a wedding is always an emotional time. You sound like such a good couple, a perfect match! The phrase you found for the charm is very sweet, and appropriate. Well, I hope whenever you have your wedding that everything goes as you planned. I'm excited for you, lol
