Do any of your spouses need a police certificate from the states due to previously living there? How can my husband get a police certificate when he is out of the US?

They usually want a FBI check. Did he live in the US for more than 6 months? If not just submit a letter stating that he was not in the US more than 6months.

A police record is needed for an individual who has lived in a particular country for a year and over after his/her 16th birthday.  All this on the nvc website.  So if he wasn't not living there for a year after he turns 16. It's not necessary

Unfortunately he did live there more than a year past 16 years old.

Hey there,

The website (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/collect-and-submit-forms-and-documents-to-the-nvc/step-5-collect-supporting-documents.html#docfinder) says "Present and former residents of the United States do NOT need to submit any U.S. police certificates."

I (beneficiary) was working in States from 2016 - mid 2018 and wasn't asked to upload the police certificate from US. My lawyer also confirmed it wasn't needed. I'd suggest calling up NVC to double check. Hope this helps!

The note down there states that present or former residents of the USA do not need any police certificates from the US. So, I assume you wouldn't need any from the States.

This is true. Police records are not needed if he lived in the U.S. One less thing to worry about...Lol I’m sorry I forgot you didn’t need one from the U.S. only other countries you lived in for a year or more, not 6 months. Thank you for correcting me everyone.

oh ok. I never knew it could be done somewhere other than Duke Street. the only thing for me was that they addressed it to NVC instead a the Kingston embassy I hope I will not need a new one for my interview

Only Duke Street does next day service which is $8000. Every where else does  five day service $6000 an the regular twenty-one day service $3000. You take the original copy to the interview as u have already sent the scanned copy to NVC

You have a 1040 tax return and a Tax transcript. The government provides us with our transcript based on what we submitted on our tax return 1040. The 1040 is printed once we file our taxes.

NVC just changed this....SMH

4th of February. I thought everything was accepted but it isn't. They want a tax transcript not the return transcript that we sent.

Why your tax return transcript got rejected? That doesn't make sense because NVC asks for the return transcript only which you can download from IRS website. Please explain why yours was rejected.

I don't have the answer. We called up and the handler said that we need to upload the transcript not the return transcript. So not sure on the next step
