What should I do if my 2017 adjusted gross income is a tiny bit below the financial need but the 2018 is way above.  Could I just do the 2018 W2 with 1040 with a letter explaining and then also submit my 2017 tax transcript with w2?  Or would that not be enough?

That’s what I would do, or show paystubs and job letter and leave out 2018 taxes. I plan on emailing or calling NVC at the end of the month to find out what they actually want. I really can’t risk any delays.

Ayito you have been of a help. Pls which form will my petitioner fill knowing my joint sponsor fill 1-864. I heard they are not taking tax return again expect tax transcript. I don't know what to do. The tax return you submitted it is only 1040 or the whole forms inside the tax return.

I uploaded only 2017 1040 and the w2s supporting, no other forms, however like you said everyone is saying they want tax transcript you can upload 1040 and w2s and ask for a tax transcript and when you have it upload it too. Petitioner and joint sponsor have to fill each one a I-864 if they live in different address.

Seems like this change took place in the last 2 weeks where NVC is only accepting tax transcripts. Thank goodness you missed this mess we are going through....Lol Wishing you the best at the Embassy Interview. Can you still upload documents once you have Case complete?

I been doing alot of research about AP at NVC. Seem like the K1 visas gets this kind of AP alot but I am IR1 visa and haven’t seen anything like it. Call NVC every day just to tell me I am under necessary administrative process and dont have a time frame for this. I guess its just me

All cases go through AP at the NVC stage, that is what NVC does. They verify everything and deal with security.

I dont have a date yet, but if everything change and if you have in your hand 1040 and w2s you can upload them meanwhile your IRS transcript arrives. You dont have to upload everything at the same time, actually I started uploading on 01/02, then 01/03, 01/09 and my case was closed 01/15 and obviously I got my tax transcript already and my stepson is going to bring it to the interview.

Your sponsor will fill I-864.

Wow! Congratulations. My 2018 tax transcript will not be available until June. I won’t have it for NVC or the interview. I will use paystubs and my job letters to show my current income.

I'm going to tag someone else into this to help... @SM&RM and @Marie85 haha they're very knowledgeable

I am in the same financial situation though with low income because I am a student so my parents will co-sponsor me.  Co-sponsorship is always an option because they may ask you to get a co-sponsor if you fall below the poverty line unless this year your income is much higher.

Can you keep me updated on what they say to you? Do your 2017 taxes meet the financial requirement? Thank you for your help!

Sure will. When is your NVC application receive date? Yes, my 2017 is way over the  poverty limit. I have a household of 2.

I really don’t know my lawyer did all the paperwork. But I know the petitioner fills the I864 and sponsor fills the I864a. make sure to submit tax transcripts not 1040’s because I think that’s why my case went into administrative process.
