Yes he did check all three years. Seems so bizarre I can't make sense of it. I also figured it looked better for us to use the 2018 tax returns because for most of 2017 he was here in Australia with me so his 2017 income is very low. We have his letter of employment and pay slips from his current job in the US which have been approved but I'm nervous they'll reject the 2017 transcript because the income isn't high enough. The extra frustrating thing is that we would have definitely done the transcripts instead if it the government hadn't of been shutdown. Guess it's just bad timing for us.

It’s crazy, but 2018 tax transcripts are not available regardless of government shutdown. It takes 2-3 weeks after tax return is accepted for transcripts to be available if the filer is getting a return or does not owe and e-filed.

They gave no reason, here's all it says:image.thumb.png.8e4b60caec47ece855bddb30fb779de7.png

I really hope they don't force us to wait until the transcript is available. I only did 2018 because we couldn't find his 2015 W2 and couldn't get transcripts. I tried to call NVC but so many people are calling they won't even put me on hold.

NVC. smh.

I meant we would have done 2015/2016/2017 transcripts, we only did 2018 because we couldn't find his 2015 W2. Hindsight we should have just waited for the shutdown to end! But I guess there's nothing that can be done. I might try to call again when they reopen to just make sure that all they want is the 2017 transcript, I don't know if I trust them...

I got RFE today and submitted on Jan 18th, so you should probably hear by the end of week I'd say

Oh sorry to hear about that. Thank for the response. Greatly appreciated.

Ok, I understand. I would try calling again at 7aEST today. You can’t trust every representative. I’ve had to call more than once to clarify information. If you don’t like the answer ask if you can speak to someone higher. So around almost 11p your time. Wow the time is so different.

With new immigration laws the officer reviewing each case can request whatever evidence they want. No real standard on what is acceptable and what isn’t. NVC has been told to make this process difficult for us. Just a fact. A lot more REF’s because of this. One might ask for 2018, then another reject and say only 2017....SMH You can see the different discrepancies here. Some get RFE for not sending in 2018 tax returns. All we can do is play this game with them and send them what they ask for.

OKAY - so I spoke to another person who told me that as of last week the NVC no longer accepts tax returns only transcripts! Hopefully anyone getting ready to submit their docs sees this. Def don't do returns only the official transcripts! This representative told me our best bet is to upload a letter explaining why we don't have the 2018 transcript and that I will bring it to the interview. What a nightmare.

I finally managed to chat with someone at NVC, and they informed me even though their site says 2-3 business days it can take up to 8 to clear.. he did tell me that mine should move to paid tomorrow, which would be 5 business days + the day I paid on. Good luck!!

Were you able to get in?

That is just crazy. They make a decision last week and sends out no update. SMH. Wow! That’s a big help to everyone. Thank you. I figured a letter would be good enough. The first representatives information didn’t seem accurate to me. I will have to write a letter too, because my transcript won’t be available until late June. Make sure to submit the letter under tax return/tax transcript in required documents and under the letter catergory in additional evidence. I saw RFE for that.

Hey. Thanks. Not sure why that persons tax returns got rejected , but your allowed to send in one of the two options tax transcripts alone , or tax returns with W2. Hoping for the best for us.

Now we know if you send a tax return and not a transcript you have to send a letter stating why you can not send a transcript. And you must send the W2 for the most current tax year. NVC is no longer accepting tax returns only transcripts unless you state one is not available...SMH Just so much.

Will do! I'll have to call late tonight. Let me know if you manage to speak to someone and get it pushed along. This waiting game sucks!
