First time I've heard that you cannot pay prior to "ready" status.   I'll have to check with people on the Thailand forum to see if that's the case in Bangkok.    I was hoping to finalize Packet 3 prior to "ready", but I need that payment receipt.

You can pay as soon as you have your case number from the NVC. You can also do your medical and everything with the case number. I had packet 3 ready to go just after NVC shipped it to Bangkok. This is your chance to pick up some time in the Bangkok Embassy as you can download everything for packet 3 and 4 from their webpage, and shave easily 2-3 weeks off your processing time by not waiting for them to mail you things. As soon as it showed ready I mailed packet 3 to the embassy, they received it the next day, and I had an appointment 9 days later. Had to really have my fiancee kick it up a notch because she had to travel from Phuket to Bangkok, get her last series of vaccinations, and get the medical done and be at the embassy 9 days later, but it worked out well.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

Many thanks for that confirmation Loren.   So we're getting the DS-160 ready now, and we'll save that until we get the NVC case, then finalize and submit.  Then I guess it's GSS for the next step to get the payment docs.   With payment docs, she will go to pay at the bank.   At that point, does she have to go back into GSS to enter payment confirmation info?   (she seems to think yes).    These are the final docs needed to finish our Packet 3, so we're ready once we get to that "ready" status.  (are "ready" and "received' the same?   Heard we can send it with "received" status)

With regard to the medical, that's good info.  The Thai medical instructions say you need the interview letter from NVC.........well, we know embassy sends interview letter, not NVC.   So did you simply provide them with NVC case number or provide them with some document showing the case number??

Daim, 9 days......that would be incredible.  We got NOA2 in 136 days which was great........Jan 18.  Called USCIS today......they said it hasn't gone to the NVC yet.  So that minimum two week delay is not helpful.  Not sure why it's such an issue that it would cause a two week delay for a simple domestic mailing.

Yes, you can pay as long as youre in Ready status. You don't have to wait for Packet 3 either. Email them so they can send you one but you can start moving on your documents and medical. You might wanna check out the Embassy information page here on Visa Journey. It's really helpful!

This is only for the Embassy in Beirut. Each embassy works differently. You may have the option to call the one there, I'm not sure. Your best bet is to make a thread in your regional forum and other Jamaican filers may be able to answer the missing pieces. Good luck!!

Did you use this email?

KingstonIV@state.gov: for general information about the immigrant visa process, questions about specific cases (always include 2ND INQUIRY and your case number in the subject line)

If you hadn't seen it yet, here is the Consulate information page for Jamaica. It might help answer some questions:
