It is nice to see things are moving. I filled on May and got NOA on May 2020 but I haven't received biometric notice yet.  Has anyone who applied post Covid done any biometrics? Are the Portland office reusing older biometrics? I read in some other forums some states are using older biometrics on file.

I'm in the same boat as you. I filed on May 5th, got my NOA a week later and haven't heard anything since. I'm not really worried though because it was expected that the pandemic would  affect waiting times significantly. My online account still states December 2020 as a completion date so fingers crossed.

Question.

I have my N400 interview in the PDX office next week, 10/28.

I'm trying to schedule my interview around my work and not sure if they do same day Oath ceremony or not.

If they don't, I will take probably about 2 hours off work to attend the Interview.

If they do, I will have to take the whole day off. I just don't want to take the entire day off if I don't need to.

Has anyone had an interview these past few months?

I saw a post on Reddit 23 days ago that Portland OR is doing same-day oath ceremonies. Best of luck to you!

Thanks @Foxdanx.

My interview went well and surprisingly very fast. My interview time was 12.30 PM and there was no one in the security line when I got there.

After the security check, I went to an upstairs waiting area. 5 minutes later I was called to interview with one really nice USCIS officer.

I swore to tell the truth and we started with the English test (Reading : Where is the white house? Writing 🥰The White house is in Washington, D.C.) and moved the civics test.

(Civics Questions : Name one US territory? If the US president can't serve, who next in line? Where is the statue of Liberty? Who makes Federal Laws? Name one state that borders Canada? Where is the statue of Liberty?).

Next we went through all the yes/No questions. He asked me if I understood the oath of allegiance and I said I did. He then told me he was approving my application and due to Covid, he will be swearing me in same day. We did the oath. He gave me some documents and I went back to the waiting area for about 20 min. Someone then brought me my naturalization certificate and that was it. In all it took about 1 hr total - from check-in to receiving the naturalization certificate.

Zero stress I may add. The Portland office has some amazing folks working there who reflect the warm spirited nature of the PNW. So I am a US Citizen now..Yay! 🙂

All the best on your upcoming interview. It will be a breeze. Keep me posted on how yours goes!

Hey, how did it went yours?

BTW when you change address from Portland to Boston, how long does it take to update uscis address from your old address? Did you do it online or called the USCIS?

My interview went well, I am just waiting for my oath ceremony :) I filed my change of address online and then followed up with USCIS. It took around three weeks for me to get a notification from them that my case was transferred to my new field office.

Today was an amazing day for my wife and  I. She became a US citizen and I already passed the test, I just need to take the oath. 2020 it will be a year to remember. Hard times but victory for God’s glory and honor. I want to thank each and one of all my friends that have been part of our American journey! And what a journey. 15 yrs total but God is never too early nor too late. He is always on time. We are so happy!!!! Thank you everyone🙏😊

4) Who vetoes bills? The president
5) During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States? Communism
6) we elect the president for how May years? 4

Hey All,

I talked to a USCIS agent last week over the phone and she mentioned that current processing times for the Portland office are 11-13 months on average. That's obviously not great but I suppose to be expected as well, given the pandemic and now elections etc.

I applied for my N400 this week (online) and saw a notice in my account that the expected completion date is May 2021 (6 months). I assume this is just standard posting and does not actually reflect current processing times? Anyone else see something similar in their accounts online after submitting?

Also how long did people have to wait to receive their biometrics appointment?

I believe you are correct and the ETA that the system gives you is not accurate. Mine says December 2020 but I haven't even gotten the biometrics letter or reuse notification yet. I filed online on May 5th, they accepted my petition on May 6th, on May 11th I got the hard copy of my NOA ,and it's been complete silence since then.

Wow that is really disappointing to hear :(

Another applicant got an update today that her estimated completion time is 12 months, not 6. She applied this week, like me.
