I can confirm at Kyiv embassy they do explicitly ask about money being sent. I don't know if any particular answer will trigger red flag, but I do know they ask a question. For reference our answer (truthful) "Some irregular transfers via RIA here and there for when things were needed, nothing regular." which was acknowledged with a nod with no follow up questions. We did not specify exact amount, and were not asked to clarify.

Based on our experience, I entirely agree with your assessment regarding the embassy in Kieve. It seems to be a standard question

Just a follow-up most embassies do not ask about money being sent so it is case by case depending on the Embassy. I specifically have knowledge that it is not asked at the consulate in the Philippines. I'm sure, as you well know, it may or may not be asked at others. This is the first time this has come up as a question in my five years here answering questions, hence my original answer. I have noted Kiev. Thank you again.

We received Packet 4 early this morning (late this afternoon in Australia), and Neil's interview date is set for April 9! Sounds great and is so close! We're considering trying to get a date a week or two later, if that's possible. Neil needs just a little more time to wrap things up where he is now, which is about 1000 miles from Sydney., and then he's planning to go and stay there until he's ready to leave for good. I'll be able to update my timeline when we've worked this out and depending on how the Embassy responds to his request, but i's exciting to think that he could be here before May!!!

Amazing, congratulations! :D Good luck with the interview and everything!

The way they word the question is exactly like Swafford mentioned "Have you sent any (material) support while you were waiting?" I had interviewer clarify as to what he meant by "support" as I didn't want to risk misinterpreting and he responded with "monetary" They also do like to ask "engagement ring" question which is interesting, as culturally Ukraine doesn't do American style engagement rings, just wedding bands. We didn't have one by mutual agreement and answered to that effect that we only plan on having weddings bands, and that was also fine.

Iryna was questioned about her engagement and engagement ring as well. Was yours a male interviewer? Hers was.

Yes, male interviewer, Window 13, white shirt, french cuffs, slight accent when he is speaking Russian.

April 9! Wow! I'm on the 30th if he schedules for that day - my appointment is 11am. My mum has decided to come to Sydney with me on interview day for moral support. She'll wait outside while I have my interview. My medical is on Monday - eek! I live about 180 miles from Sydney so I'm just driving up and back in a day. I'm not able to fly out until June so April suited us perfectly for the interview. Let me know if Neil reschedules his interview! :)

It would be so cool if you and Neil could meet that day! It will be great for you to have your mum there. Either way, I wish you the best of luck with all of it. I'll keep you posted about his interview. :)

we never even discussed an engagement ring.... but we didnt expect a lot of this to happen either, it sort of just happened the way it happened.

Since I'm going to the interview with my fiance  I'm second guessing the paperwork. Do I also have to bring an original of my birth certificate from the US or just my fiance as the beneficiary needs his birth certificate?

Sorry I keep editing this on the fly—was so excited to have some good news but didn't have all my information straight. 😅
CEAC does say it's in transit, and I believe some people in here were saying they ship out every 2 weeks or so, last two shipments would have been March 5 and March 19 so I believe our case was indeed sent out on the 19th

Probably not. It seems to take them a couple of days to move it to the out box.

In any case, you are very close.

Also turns out that it takes DHL 6 or 7 days, plus our Consulate takes a few days before they acknowledge it, then a couple more days to send letter (packet 3).
