just curious, is it necessarily bad to send her money?

i have sent money for things like her birthday or for her to get some food or medicine and of course money for her travel to Kyiv and for the fees and medical etc

I’m not sure if there’s a correct answer other than a truthful one? They didn’t ask specifics other than a little or a lot once she identified that I had sent a few moneygrams probably totaling around $2K combined. I would be speculating but I personally might consider a red flag to be sending nothing or an exorbitant amount. Who knows, with international fund transfer tracking, they may know the answer before they ask the question and merely be gauging honesty? 🤷‍♂️

By the way, get any dentistry work done outside Kiev and prior to leaving. Outside Kiev is a much better deal than inside.  It’s quality dentistry at a fraction of the price in the US

Anything less than 5 and we'll be good. We chose to pick up straight from the hub in hopes that she gets it as fast as possible.

The hub? Unfamiliar with that term. Iry’s picking up at the repository near the hospital

When selecting from the Kyiv list of locations, there's one labeled as the "hub", which I assume means it's the one that ships to all of the other sites. hoping if that's the case, it might shave a day off the pickup time. just hopeful thinking. it's only an extra 20 minutes or so away, so having even just the chance at getting it early was worth the gamble. again, just hopeful thinking.

We have the same NOA2 date. NVC got our package 19 March and I believe the Consulate got it on the 26th.

They told her 3-5 days for the passport to be ready. Questions were very basic, where we met, things we did, where and when engaged, our plans as far as the future, if I sent her any type of support while we were waiting, a little or a lot, asked about her engagement ring, if I had met her parents and family. She speaks intermediate English but the interviewer conducted the interview in Russian which I think was really a relief to her. She said everyone was very kind and non intimidating. The 160 information and form wasn’t looked at or referenced. She said he thumbed through the 134 but never really looked at our trip packets or other information. Upon closure he welcomed her to the US.

Congratulations.

I too was curious about the money question, but see you answered it after and it makes sense what you said.

They don't care about the money you send. It's a nonissue.

Hey guys, so I've been through a rollercoaster of emotions this morning. My fiance (petitioner) has been trying to call NVC for the past couple of weeks (NOA2 date Feb 12) without being able to get through to someone due to call volume, but I found out yesterday that he had only been trying the 1-603-334-0700 number, so I got him to try the 603-334-0888 number and he got through to someone only to find out that they hadn't received our case yet and to wait 6 weeks from the date we received NOA2 in the mail (March 5). This was all right before I had to leave for work so I had a bit of a panic. HOWEVER he then told me that the person on the other end had seemed adamant about one of the WAC digits being a "5" when he had said "3", so he decided to try and call again to double check.

Turns out we received a notice on March 19 (got lost in his inbox I guess?) that the case will be forwarded to the embassy. I suppose I have to check the CEAC to see what that means exactly

Well hey that's not really a bad thing! Now the balls in your court. No more waiting around, time to get that medical done and schedule the interview. :)

Sorry I keep editing this on the fly—was so excited to have some good news but didn't have all my information straight. 😅
CEAC does say it's in transit, and I believe some people in here were saying they ship out every 2 weeks or so, last two shipments would have been March 5 and March 19 so I believe our case was indeed sent out on the 19th

I can confirm at Kyiv embassy they do explicitly ask about money being sent. I don't know if any particular answer will trigger red flag, but I do know they ask a question. For reference our answer (truthful) "Some irregular transfers via RIA here and there for when things were needed, nothing regular." which was acknowledged with a nod with no follow up questions. We did not specify exact amount, and were not asked to clarify.

Your the first to identify that you indeed were asked. I like your answer, simple to the point now move on.
