From my understanding the medical is good for a year for AOS purposes, but the visa is issued with an expiration based on your medical date (up to 6 months). Call the doctor and ask what he will require to perform the medical. Our wanted our interview appt confirmation. They always want the medical as close as possible to the interview in case you hit a snag (like we did) that delays your entry.

Ours was 1 week away from our interview but now will be 25 days out, not adding any AP before the visa is issued.

Ya I think you’re right, this process really isn’t for the type A personality! I feel like I always want to be doing something other than just waiting. I pray for no AP but you never know I’m not sure what would even prompt it. Are you able to see on your end when the next available interview is? I was able to see it when I log onto traveldocs and now when I log in it no longer says next available appointment is on... idk what changed

From my understanding the medical exam is good for one year, is it okay to get it done now before our package ships to the Cairo embassy? I had my fiancé call the office that does it and they said wait for the letter from NVC. We’re hoping ours gets sent out with the 3/19 shipment.

I would recommend scheduling the medical exam appointment the moment you have your number from the NVC. I know of no reason to wait.

@Sohamahmoud91 Scheduling the medical and completing it just prior to the interview is best as the validity of the visa is based on when you did your medical. If you have problems at either the exam or interview this could cut your travel time to be in the US. The medical for the embassy is valid for 6 months and for the AOS after marriage it is one year.

Not all countries allow you to do that.

Yes it really isn't! I feel your pain. I'm not sure what point you're on since you don't have a timeline but my advice is to get the medical done no sooner than when you see your case In-Transit and you have calculated how long it will take to arrive but only IF you can see an appointment within the next week or two after arrival.

If you're not able to see any appointments, odds are it's probably booked up for the time being. Just keep logging in every day to see if you find an availability. But if it's booked, also keep in mind you'll have to wait until something is available. Some places (like Mexico) have to wait a few months before their interview because they have a lot of applicants. In cases with no availability, if you did your medical too early and you hit a few weeks or a month of AP after you'll have eaten almost half of the 6 month entry expiration date. Idk if you're planning to travel as soon as you get the visa or need awhile before you do but that's something to consider.

My friend interviewed in Lebanon 2/20 and just got her visa today, no issues with it... just unknown AP and it took almost a month post interview. Planning is key.

Idk if you've been to that page but it might be REALLY helpful to gather documents and know what the Egypt US embassy expects and what to expect from them. The one for Lebanon helped me A LOT. I used it religiously when getting things prepared for the interview.

My friend actually just went through the fiancé visa process in Egypt within this past year so she’s been my main resource for everything Cairo embassy related. I’m at the NVC stage now I’m really hoping he can interview by end of April but now that  you mentioned interviews can be booked if they’re not showing up in super bummed

Greenbaum, please I need enlightenment on this questions. The new letter of intent is it both of us that will write new one and if not whoever that will write the new one which address are we going to direct it to and also the employment letter is the company of my f has to Address it to what address also. And now we get our NVC case number the ASK message and when I track it, is still at NVC so what is the next steps to take now. And also about the DS 160 is which is non immigrant and DS 261 which is immigrant. Which one am I going to fill ? Thanks

Typically you only need the letter of intent to include with the I-129f application. It is not used UNLESS the P3 instructions state that they require one. If the embassy requires one then the petitioner will create one and the beneficiary will create a letter, so two letters one from each of you. Address the letter to the embassy.

Employment letter is addressed to the embassy and "to whom it concerns" is fine.

The case will remain at NVC until such time as you are sent to the embassy. Shipments are every other week and next one goes on March 19.

You complete the DS-160 prior to paying the interview fee.
