In anticipation of a standard timeline, after receiving our NVC case number tonight, we went ahead and scheduled our embassy interview for March 27th at 8 a.m..  This should give plenty of time for the hard copy to reach Kyiv prior to the interview.  Also, this afternoon we emailed to schedule the medical exam for Monday March 11th at 8 a.m. as well.  I have not had any real success in using the CEAC website.  When I enter our case number and invoice number, I only get a pop up saying the DS160 has to be completed (see below).  While this is obviously true, we've had our DS 160 filled out and paid for for some time now.

Switch visa type to immigrant. Do not enter invoice number, you won't be needing it ever.

We got NVC case number but can't schedule medical check-up until the Consulate gets our case and make an interview appointment for us..I checked the estimated time for interviews from the date of getting P3. Usually it is about 6-7 weeks...so probably my interview isn't till early May😭

It's based on when your case number is assigned. Nothing moves after NOA2 till the file is assigned a case number from NVC. They ship some on Wednesday. China is all electronically sent and goes at anytime.

This explains a lot. Our shockingly fast processing time for this step caught me by surprise and I had been trying to make sense of it. I hadn't called or even set up email alert yet!

2/12 - NOA2

03/01 - NVC received + case number assigned + case sent to Guangzhou Consulate.

Was "in transit" for less than a day and now AP. Assume Packet 3 with forms and checklist should be on its way soon 🤞.

Wish the entire process was this fast...🙄

i don't understand how cases with NOA2 Feb 12 can already have their case number and other cases not. We are NOA2 Feb 13 and our case didn't even arrive at NVC yet. It's so weird...

As explained somewhere above, for whatever reason only our wonderful DoS knows, China gets everything electronically, while the rest of us, get snail mail and snail processing.

I thought Germany would get it electronically too. But even snail mail doesn't take 3 weeks. I mean it takes a week to send a letter from Germany to USA so I don't understand why it takes such much longer to send stuff within the USA...

But well ok can't change it. But this whole process is pissing me off. We applied in June 2018!

there's always a lucky few that sneak through early, but never once has it been someone actually active on here so you can never ask if it was a special case or something. if you look, only a few people from the first week made it in so far and two of them have been there for a while. for some reason there's always a couple that arrive weeks before the rest. that said, I think many people from 3Feb - 9Feb are probably at NVC right now, maybe even with case numbers, and just don't know cause they haven't called recently.

Hey all!

We received the case number without even calling once. My fiance in NY got an email saying that the case left NVC for the embassy. So that was unexpected because we were thinking it was going to take six weeks. I don't know why it was fast. We don't have anything special in our case that would make things speed up. Here is my timiline

NOA1: September 19th

NOA2: February 12th

NVC NUMBER: February 28th

NVC TO EMBASSY: March 5th

CEAC today: in transit

Good luck to all of you! Hopefully you will get news soon!

Interesting, I was just speaking about your case. You're the first "unicorn" case that I've seen that was actually able to state "yep, just lucky". I've just been assuming these odd cases must have had some type of nvc expedition for some reason. odd. congratulations. I'm sure it was a pleasant surprise 😁

Here is some information I have gathered over time. This may answer some additional questions as they come to mind.

From another VJ member who had firsthand knowledge provided this information.

GUZ takes on average 30 days to deliver P3, it is not electronic.

I can tell you that P3 for GUZ is only 4 line items

1. DS-160 Confirmation Page

2. Copy of Passport Personal Page

3. 2 Passport style photos White Background, Well Lit, 50mm x 50mm

4. Return the P3 instructions page

#4 is what prevents people in China from getting a head start, they want the instructions page mailed back with the requested documents.

http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp#KVisaPetitions

P3 Letter for China:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gcrLW0OCkGfdz43tehWNmgDayJUrRTdj/view?usp=sharing

U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview. K visa applicants will be notified by the U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou when it is time to schedule an interview.

An individual with an approved petition and a priority date that is current for processing (when applicable) is eligible to apply for an immigrant visa or K nonimmigrant visa. Immigrant visa applicants will be notified by either the National Visa Center (NVC)

And don't forget the help from other members here:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/94-china/

And the Portal here on VJ for processing in China and what to expect

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=China&cty=Guangzhou

 or the http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-iv-visaapplyinfo.asp

Don't waste time while you're waiting for P3, complete DS-160 and print confirmation page. Since you are from China(I provided your website for you below), go to the 2nd link below and click immigrant to register under K1 visa. After you register and enter info it should be clear on how to pay fee, make sure you print Bank deposit slip. just follow directions under Nonimmigrant Visa, but make sure when you register K1 is under Immigrant Visa.

Directions go to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/cn/cn-niv-visaapply.asp

Register(Create Account) https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/?language=English&country=China After you register make sure to choose K1 visa under Immigrant, it wasn't an option for me under non-immigrant.

Do we get sort of blocked by NVC for being annoying, calling them everyday for that case number? 😜

No you don't get blocked. There are so many tools to use to predict when the next step could happen keeping you off the phones. Anyone calling will not be able to move their file forward. Logically, you call USCIS what do they say "give it 8 more weeks", record still where it is. Call NVC and what do they say "it hasn't arrived from USCIS". Call never moved the file any faster. Called NVC, agent gave me the case number. Now What? Having the case number is not gong to move you any faster to your goal. Why? Most don't have the knowledge that there isn't really anything they can do with most embassies till you have a letter in hand with the case number and the record has been set to "ready". So really, there isn't anything that you will accomplish by calling. Just my experience.

BTW @Nafisa Zaripova has just proven my point. Visit their post about 6 above mine here.

Let me share some tools to use to determine your upcoming timeline keeping you from going crazy. Go to the first page of this thread and read #3, 4 and 5.

Summary Information

K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case.

To use CEAC at ceac.state.gov you select "immigrant" and then enter your DS-160 confirmation number. Your status will appear.
