Your observation is correct. The problem comes, and I have never heard of this happening, when "you" are asked "were you the one who submitted your DS-160?". Then that question requires a truthful answer. Now the CO at the interview are very good at "interrogation" and they can listen and judge if the "person" is telling the truth or not and so most would fail if they were to offer the wrong answer. But, of course occasionally someone may be a good "liar" and not get called out. But here is where "you" have to be careful.

Other people can assist you with your visa application. Note that under U.S. law (22 C.F.R. 41.103) you must electronically sign and submit your own application unless you qualify for an exemption. Even if someone else helped you complete the application, you (the applicant) must click the “Sign Application” button, or your application may not be accepted. The Form DS-160 shall be signed by the applicant, with intent to be bound by all statement in the NIV application under penalty of perjury.

Here is my advice. As a couple you work together answering the questions. Once you are complete and you believe it's ready STOP! Now, each of you look through the copy that is ready to be submitted. Look for blanks or unanswered questions, look for spelling errors and look at dates. Once BOTH are satisfied then the beneficiary is the one to take the oath and submit the document. They can do so from anywhere in the world as I cannot site any procedure that is available to indicate otherwise.

Read my entry above. That answer is no.

I’m thinking then in that case since from my understanding you can save the application and log into and out of it, perhaps I can fill it out for him and have him log on from there once everything is filled in and completed and have him do the submitting portion. It seems like a minor detail but the whole process creates a sense of paranoia that anything you do that’s not 100% by the book can lead to a delay in your processing.

That's what we ended up doing since internet in Lebanon is very unreliable.

Ya that’s what I think I’ll do too. Has anyone had issues with the application continuously timing out while working on it? It’s so frustrating to fill it out in parts and keep logging in, I read online it’s an ongoing issue. I tried with several different internet browsers and it just randomly times out while I’m working on it.

YESSSSS 😭 and the first time we forgot to write down the application number so we had to start over. I would suggest to write down the application ID so you can retrieve it if it times out.

ours kept timing out, but it was because i was asking questions when i was doing it . we were on viber video chat the whole time and we used https://www.teamviewer.com/en-us/

so if there was any questions she saw what i was putting in and corrected it right away.

I took a pic of the application ID at the beginning and also sent it to him so it’s saved in our messages in case we have to go back and when he logs in to review and submit. I guess this is a system glitch since so many people are experiencing it I’m now at a standstill where it just isn’t letting me in to finish it at all so I’ll try again tomorrow what a pain!

Can we start obtaining affidavit of support documents now?  or should we wait for a Case #?

Essentially, what can we start doing now?

Hello everyone,

Received a hard copy of I-797.

It does not say anywhere that it was mailed to NVC. It states the petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed Consulate. Does it sound correct?

Mine says it was sent to the NVC and does and all inquires should be directed there.

That's strange.

Can you confirm if your form I-797C or I-797?

I can confirm it

But I can also confirm that other people got their I-797 NOA2 with wording that was like yours, which says it will be sent to consulate, not to NVC. Why? Who knows. My fiancee is currently in US on her Approved and now used K-1 visa, sleeping peacefully in our bed, but USCIS status still says "Application Received" and I get bi-weekly e-mails about "No status change"

Here is information for your consulate in Mexico. This is all the preparation that you will do before the interview.

Keep in mind that a forum like this one is for initial bonding with others who are along the same timeline as you for initial processing. The initial application is the same no matter where in the world you are. But, having said that, once you get your approval (NOA2 text message or email), you should also check in with your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with, and to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to at the US Embassy - Juarez Mexico.

Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the Juarez K1 Embassy instructions at http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/CDJ%20-%20Ciudad%20Juarez.pdf (Spanish) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cBWgGJr4a5ay3b4OV28_dC3pgf63ZUr-/view?usp=sharing (English) as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use this website as a checklist. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents you'll be ready for your interview.

Last but not least, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for you country so that you are up to speed.

here is a screenshot. If it is normal I am guessing I have to wait for few weeks for contacting NVC about my case.

It is normal and it will take about 3-4 weeks till NVC is ready to assign a case number. If a case number is assigned prior to that timeline you will be emailed or contacted with a hardcopy of the case number.
