Is your GC expiring within 90 days of filing? If not, even if it's 91 days, they'll return your application. It seems that happened to you, but we can be more helpful if we know when your GC expires and when you fill out your timeline :)

it expires May 19th so wou;d have been before the 90 days.

So that means theyll return it all without submitting it? Just when i thought i was being organized. They're taking an awful long time to return it to me then.

I think there was someone in another thread who filed too early, and it took a month or so for her to get it back.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Would be nice if they mentioned it in the Form Instructions at least!...would save them a lot of hassle to.

They do, with bold letters lol. But don't worry, it's a common mistake that people make! Send in your paperwork exactly 90 days before expiration, that way you'll have enough time to receive your extension letter before your GC expires and that way they'll receive it about 86-88 days before expiration so they def won't refuse it (if filed properly)

If your green card expires on May 19th, you cannot send your I-751 until Feb 18th.   (edit: unless you're already divorced.  But it says right on the I-751 instructions to send a joint filing in the 90 days before your green card expires)
