They are estimates based on data analytics. You should be looking at the USCIS processing time, and also consider that every case is different.

My wife was the last of a group of 3 girls from Thailand to come here on K1 visas.  Girl one arrived here early June.  Girl two arrived 22 June, and my wife arrived July 6.  All three of us submitted our paperwork to USCIS for AOS, AP, & EA within the same two week period.  Girl two (Tampa field office)has already had her interview and was approved for a green card nearly 2 months ago.  Girl one received her combo card about a month ago.  Girl one's and my wife's both are serviced by the National Benefits Center.  My wife is convinced that girl two's was approved so quickly because they had help from a lawyer with the paperwork.  Hard for me to convince her that using a lawyer is of no help.

In conclusion, it depends on which field office is working on your case, and there is no rhyme or reason to the process.

I think some have failed to recall what the word "estimate" means. It's not going to be exactly accurate, to the date. It's an estimated date, based on cumulative information that is ever changing, as more and more people update their information. It's to give you an idea of about how much longer you have, but the actual date likely won't be the exact date something happens.

To be fair - our estimated dates were actually pretty accurate. Our second NOA for our K1 was estimated between the last week of November and first week of December 2017, and we received it on 12/1. So it does happen. :)

I enjoyed when my estimated decision date was before I could even see my case online.  Lol

True that! I also read a topic on here from a former USCIS employee and he explained that all the cases are put in boxes, those go on shelfs and officers will just pick a box (it's kinda random, but they do try to go in order) So because of that it can happen that someone lets say end of August is processed before someone at the beginning of August. Also, it depends on how fast the officer works. If your file is on a slow desk officer it can take a little longer.

Yeah looks like USCIS is doing a lot faster than before. I got my NOA2 yesterday, yet on the paper it said that it was actually approved on January 31st, but got to my fiance's house on February 5th. I assume the i 797 was the correct paper anyway, said it was approved and that they're forwarding it to NVC.
