Name change certificate problem

Hello everyone,

 

I'm currently in between NOA2 and NVC. Meanwhile, I'm trying to collect some documents a little bit in advance. I have an issue though when it comes to a Name change certificate. 

 

I currently own a surname of my stepdad. My mother remarried when I was 9 and changed my birth certificate with a new surname after she changed hers. There is no paper through which would register this change since I was a child at a time, and it wasn't my legal initiative to change my surname as people do when they get married or generally want to change it to anything else. So basically I was born and lived my first 8 years under one surname, but then I got a new one and never changed it since. My biological father is still my father, and he is listed in the new birth certificate, too. 

 

So my issue is that I did change a surname, but I have no document which would explain this change. I already applied to ЗАГС (a place where my new birth certificate was made), and they didn't find any name change paper and told me it just doesn't exist. I am not quite sure what to do since I should include my first surname in a list of all the surnames that I had, but I don't have a paper for this change. Will it be crucial when I go to an interview?

I'm a bit confused....so you have 2 birth certificates, one with the old last name and one with the new?

No, I have just one birth certificate with a new surname.
