Packet 3: dealine?

hello everybody

I jsut got my packet 3 today. In a previous posting, I wrote the I was wondering how I could deal with the two year rule and my K1 process. My petition is expiring in April but my two year rule(Section 212 E) ends in june. So here are my questions:

- How long can I hold back the packet I just received from the embassy with the required forms? Can I send it sometimes around the expiration date of my petition so that the consular officer will revalidate the petition for a longer time?

-Is the petition extention automatic? Should I email?

Normally the consulate will destroy a petition if a response hasn't been received from the beneficiary after 1 year from the date the form was sent out. Extension of the petition is normally automatic until a response is received by the beneficiary.
