When it comes to English she interprets literally.  If you use anything other than standard English (such as alternate word meanings, slang, idioms, metaphors, analogy) she does not understand what you are saying

YMMV

That is because most Filipinos that do this. Sarcasm is lost because it is taken literally.

We had a saying when I worked in Qatar was that "If you found a Pinay that understood sarcasm then you need to go the other way". It took almost a good 2-3 years before my wife fully understood it.

Wow that's crazy. With some of the bad news bringing brought to the fore front as of late, hope my Fiancees interview goes well on the 14th. All you can do it pray you get a CO on a good day I suppose

Our interview is on the 14th as well.. after reading this of course I'm nervous again. But she attended her CFO seminar back in November and she passed it and the consular even commented how amazed she did compared to others. While others that same day got denied their certificate for lack of bonifide relationship. Buidling confidence is the reason we chose to do it so early.. but reading posts like this makes me nervous again. I hope and pray we all have a positive experience that results in an approved visa...

My advice,  if she does the interview in English and gets a question that she does not understand,  stop the interview and asks for a translator

Yes, when my fiancé attended her CFO Seminar, there were individuals there that were denied/failed even though they had Passed their Visa Interview and had already received their Visas...  some were for paperwork some were due to not knowing the questions that were asked. And I feel a lot of it is due to "brain dumping" after their Visa interview, or thinking the CFO is just a check the block or a joke... but its a serious part of this process and VOH or not.. without CFO stamp and Certificate, you cant leave the Philippines.

As for what happens, They told them to reschedule and come back.

Absolutely. CFO is a PH government requirement, which is separate from the visa requirements.

They keep trying. Or they find a way out of PH and then fly to the US from there.

CFO can ask for anything and everything with some, and others breeze right through.

I wish @duckhunter1 would come back around because he was entertaining with his CFO stories. I wonder how he and his wife are doing now.

We did the same thing. I had Roxan do the CFO in Sept so she could build confidence. She had absolutely no problems. Others failed the interview. I was there for the CFO and I will be there for the embassy interview unless something major happens. I missed my first K-1's interview because of a Volcanic eruption in Iceland in 2010)))

Finally done...
