I have a brother debating this in college classes right now. He said that there are a LOT of studebts in his class that argue for the "right" to murder babies even AFTER they are born!

I wonder where it would stop.....kill people 5 minutes after birth? 1 year? 10 years? 60 years?  This is a true slippery slope of insanity...

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

"They" also advocate for the euthanizatuon of older people or those with diasabilities, sayibg that it is necessary for "quality of life".

I thought the post-birth abortion position was ludicrous and mostly exaggerated, but my brother tells me that there are a lot of college kids that believe it. :(

Strangely enough, I haven't heard any old people or people with disabilities advoxating foe their own death.

the self-directed euthanasia is something I could actually get behind, Dr Kevorkian was villified for his role in this but given the option of a protracted painful existence without hope for relief, I could see this as an option, but self directed not state directed

I always thought it was cruel keeping somebody in pain with no cure.

I think Kevorkian's problem was his obsession with death in general, and his attachment to it for almost his whole medical career. It just made it an awkward and sometimes creepy situation whenever he was involved. The issue of the right to die was and still is real and important to discuss, but Kevorkian was not the right person to spearhead it.

Probably right, he did not come across as a compassionate man by any stretch, and I think he enjoyed the limelight as well ...

I never had any issues with Kevorkian (of course, I was pretty young in his heyday), as long as it is done because that’s what the PATIENT wants, and is not being pushed towards it by the doctor (same with abortions), then I am fine with it.  We put our dogs, cats, and other animals down when they are old and/or suffering, why not our loved ones?  It might hurt us, the living, to see it happen, but how much better off will the sufferer be?

I came across two articles today that I think apply to this thread. I'd implore those who were interested in this thread to give them a careful read.

One is from a lady who told her story of being a promising teenager, rape, trauma, and very late discovery of pregnancy. Being from a rural state that has later term abortion laws there was no options for her, even though she was going to give birth to a baby that would likely suffer every single agonizing moment of it's life, and indeed died a year later. The child was loved anyway, but the suffering it went through and the suffering this young woman went through was brutal. The young woman grew up and has a better life now but still suffers from the experience and wishes that she had the option of abortion back then, so that she could have prevented that child's suffering. It's a difficult read but it's a needed perspective.  https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/late-term-abortion-rape_us_5c630b8de4b0a8731aeabbd6

The second story highlights a condition that a great deal of babies, that some 80% are aborted for in the UK. The NHS did not used to fund alternative or pioneering methods that could be utilized to potentially save the baby. Previously mothers that wanted to explore other options were forced to travel elsewhere. Not every baby will be a viable for such an operation but it is thought some will benefit. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/baby-operation-womb-mother-spina-bifida-bethany-simpson-a8774081.html
