AOS APPROVED WITH NO INTERVIEW???

Okay, I received a notice on Friday saying that my husband's AOS was approved, that we would be getting a notice in the mail, follow whatever instructions are on there, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

So, yesterday we received the letter welcoming him to the U.S. saying that he is now a permanent resident and his card is good for 10 years.

We had no interview at all. It said nothing about a temporary residency card with conditions for two years, nothing. Just said "Your new card will expire in ten years".

Why was it so easy for us? Has anyone EVER had this happen? I mean, no interview, now two year residency card with conditions, nothing.....

I mean I'm not complaining, it's great and we are truly blessed. Is this something that is random? Did we just have so much stuff that hey just approved? Does anyone know?

10-19-06 - Married at a small ceremony

11-10-0 - sent AOS package

11-17-06 - RECEIVED NOA1 for AOS and EAD

11-27-06 - RECEIVED BIOMETRICS APPT 4 12-14-06 WOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO

2-1-07 - RECEIVED E-MAIL THAT EAD WAS APPROVED!!!!!!!

2-3-07 - RECEIVED EAD CARD IN THE MAIL!!! Lucked out on that one!!!

I'm wondering if it had something to do with your husband having to provide more evidence for his Visa interview at the embassy abroad.

Maybe someone can enlighten me... does the interviewer, and other persons processing the documents, make notes or suggestions regarding the truth of the relationship? Since there is a sealed packet you have to leave with passport control when arriving to the USA... I wonder what's in it?

When my husband had his K-3 interview, I traveled to Turkey to be there too. When our number was called, I told the interviewer that I was his wife (in Turkish) and if she needed me as well. We talked a about 30 seconds, then she said there was more processing to be done and we would be called back in a few minutes. So we sat back down and were called back. She allowed me to stand with my husband and she also asked me questions (how long have I been studing Turkish and where).

I'm wondering if she made notes in our file regarding my attendance and my fluency of Turkish? so there wasn't any doubt of our marriage being genuine or not.

If so, that could play a part in why your husband got his Greencard without the interview... you both provided enough evidence that it wasn't necessary for the interview...but I am only guessing...

It could just be a clerical error...

The Consulate interview doesn't have any bearing on the AOS. The only time (that I know of) a 10 yr GC is issued to a K-1 filer is if they have been married for 2 years by the time the GC is issued.

The "sealed packet" is just your file from the visa process. It contains your medical information and application documents.

Congrats on the Green Card!!!

(Personally I would make an infopass appointment and let them know that they sent you a 10-year card in error, just in case it causes issues for you down the line).

Well I know that for let's say Juarez I-130 Consulate processing once you are done with their interview you come home and receive your welcome letter in the mail and get your GC in the mail 3 weeks later. No interview here in the US is needed. Maybe its the same case with yours.
