Hey everyone. I talked with my lawyer friend about the apostilled and this is what he said.

IMPORTANT FOR FILLING AOS

Every document has to be apostilled and translated.

I’ll call tomorrow to the Colegio de Escribanos here in Córdoba to ask cost, how long it takes to do it, documents needed, etc

The translation has to be done by a Traductor Público and then has to be certificate by the Colegio de Traductores.

For the ones that did it with the Divorce degree, the way to do it is the same so if you can share how do it bellow it will be great for the ones who read it in the future.

Special thanks to @Andrea + Gaston to bring it up! We all owe you one. It was going to be such a pain to do this being in the US. Now I have something while I wait to leave.

Hi

For the translations the instructions of 129F said:

Translations. If you submit a document with information in a foreign language, you must also submit a full English translation. The translator must sign a certification that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English. The certification should also include the date, the translator’s signature and printed name, and may contain the translator’s contact information.

So, no need to pay for translation services (traductor matriculado, etc.) if you dont want to, you can carefully translate your document and at the end you add a legend like below:

I asked a friend to sign my translations

I, (name of the person), certify that I am fluent in English and Spanish languages, that I am competent to perform the translation from Spanish to English and that the above is the complete and accurate translation of the document entitled YYYYYY as the ZZZZZZZ.

Translations are not needed for I129 F, but yes for AOS (Adjusment of status). Is better to do it while you are still in the country so as soon as you get marry you can fill AOS without having to wait for this being done.

Awesome, thanks so much for checking!!! :D Please let us know the process!

For the divorce decree for I-129F, we used a lawyer in CABA (my fiancé works full time and most courts are only open til early afternoon...it was just easier and faster to have someone do it for us).

Basically, we had to give him my fiancé's DNI to obtain the certified copy from the court. If you know the file name ("caratula"), file number, and which court the divorce was finalized in, that helps a lot. He then took the certified copy to get legalized with sello medalla (oval seal) at the court of appeals and then to MREIC (Ministry de Relaciones Exteriores y Culto "cancilleria") for the apostille. We had the divorce decree (with all stamps/seals) and attached apostille translated by a certified translator. Just to be safe, we also included a signed letter from our lawyer saying this is what the final divorce decree looks like in Argentina.

Hope this info helps!

So, would this be true only for the "Acta de Nacimiento" (we don't have the divorce decree, etc.) or all documents?  Would we have to do it for school transcripts (to show you've graduated from school)?

si eesa es su direccion oficial, pero las instrucciones del P3 dicen a la avenido cervino. por eso me entro la duda.

Cual direccion te dice el correo que te llego de la embajada?  Yo usaria la que dice el correo de la embajada entonces.  Ya que la comunicacion viene directo de la embajada en Buenos Aires.

Lo envié Avenida Colombia! Cuando lo envies, envia un mail a la embajada diciendo que te avisen cuando llegue. Así te quedas tranquila

For college diplomas is the same.  I’ll give more information tomorrow when I call.

Perfect!

I had the interview on Thursday 25th. Got approved. My passport and packet arrived yesterday through DHL (it took 4 bussiness days to get everything back). I’ll go to pick everything tomorrow since today is a holiday.

Congrats 🍾
