Assuming adult children can still be sponsored.

Similar risk with the F4 process; both processes could be in the chopping block with future immigration reform.

Sponsors father, another year, assuming he wants to come

Father sponsors...

Another risk with chain migration: if the father passes away then that route is no longer viable.

Good point.

The corollary of that is not: surely these forums are full of knowledgeable people happy to sit around wasting their time on random hypothetical scenarios, when they could be helping people with actual petitions about to be filed or having problems with those underway, because they have nothing else to do with their time?

making a note of your username so as not to waste time in future. I guess that makes me “uptight” 😂😂

So you never ask what if?

As Ive previously stated, I will ensure to be crystal clear in future but you make sure to have a nice day.

He has already been residing in the US for 3.

Citizenship eligibility is based on issue date of GC, not date of physically moving to the US...but that wasn't my point.

The "more than 2 years" is in reference to the other variables involved in you immigrating through a sibling petition filed by your brother.

Boiler outlined them briefly above.

My brother has a green card which he intends for turn into citizenship in approximately two years time.

When I have disclosed this information previously, I have been told to ask again  in two years time hence the hypothetical scenarios.

Apologies if this isn't the same for everyone here but I like to plan my long term future at least two years in advance

Bwaaaaa!!!!!!!  You haven't been lying.  Now, your brother isn't even a US citizen.

Because you posted this perhaps?

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

But in his opinion I'm a liar?

My point being that anything posted on these forums is generally believed to be true. I appreciate those people who forgave my ignorance and wording of my questions and provided actual helpful insights and potential solutions.

If you want helpful insights and potential solutions stick to the facts. As they are, not how you hope they will be.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Generally speaking---saying one thing, then saying something the complete opposite is normally equated with "lying"...although this isn't a conversation about semantics.

Perhaps going forward sticking with the facts when asking immigration-related questions would be best for those trying to help, and easiest for those doing the asking in discerning useful info.

Depending on how the timeline goes----when is your brother planning on filing for your father?  Or is he planning on filing for both of you at the same time?

Or, is he even planning on filing for your father, or is that hypothetical?  Seriously, I'm trying to help you out here but now even I'm wondering what questions are worthwhile in answering and which ones are just "what-ifs" grasped out of thin air, too..

I haven't said anything the complete opposite of something else I've said. All I did was essentially say I think that this is going to be my situation in the future. Please can someone with knowledge/experience shed any light on how long the process takes.

Been answered a few times.  Depends on variables (non-hypothetical variables).  Generally though no less than 12 years.

My brother has told me that he can gain/apply for citizenship in May 2021. Assuming he gets that, my dad will likely be interested in moving the US. As I understand it, my brother will be able to apply for a green card for my dad?
