Oh no! Just read about your case. Any updates??

Nope, the case is still in AP. No updates, not even for when we submitted our documentation

I’m sorry to hear that! I, too, wish that I knew what was going on. Have been in AP since March and NO updates. Still being positive.

I'm sorry too for you. All the best to you too. This is just very painful.

This is the latest email we got from them.

Greetings from the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai.

Your application remains refused under Section 221(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act for mandatory administrative processing. Unfortunately, we cannot expedite or give an estimated timeframe. U.S. immigration law requires that additional steps be completed in some cases before a file can be reconsidered for adjudicative review. We appreciate your patience.

Please be assured once again that we will contact you as soon as the processing of your case is complete. You can also check the status of your visa at https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/.

Sincerely,

Consular Information Unit
U.S. Consulate General Mumbai"

Wow! That totally sucks. This uncertain feeling is killing me. Because, I do not know what to expect!

Are there any red flags in your case? Age difference? Religion? Etc..

The interpretation of their email is that you are in AP while they process your reply to the 221(g). Once they have everything then they will complete the adjudication of your case. "we cannot expedite or give an estimated timeframe" is true. Calling them is not going to speed up their process. This is the time to relax and have more patience.

we are new case here .. received 221g for proof of relationship.. i had interview on 7th june.. after submitting documents case got updated for 3 days straight.. no updates after that still shows AP.. any good news for us?

Just about everyone gets this after their interview.  Based on the discussions I had with the case officer he informed me of these steps:

the first AP is the immigration unit doing the paperwork for approving the visa

the first ready is a notice that they are finished and the paperwork is being sent for visa issuance

the second AP is the visa issuance people doing their own paperwork

the second ready is that the visa has been issued and is currently being processed for delivery

Then "issue" is posted and the visa has left the BIG house to YOUR house.

Everyone is in AP. AP for every embassy can be different. As long as you are in AP and your dates are changing then there is movement on your case toward approval. You need more patience and you will have your visa. This is all NORMAL.

No age difference or difference in religion. The follow-up documents requested were a questionnaire, resume, list of my publications and professional references. The questionnaire was extensive asking for addresses for previous 15 years and social media accounts. It may have been related to my National Security background, however, we don't really know for sure. It may be a few months before we hear anything else.
