Birth certificate

Hey guys, I have a situation with my father’s name, in my birth certificate his last name is different than it is on his ID (the way it’s on his ID is the way I wrote it on the I-129f) and the reason is because our name is supposed to be written Beard but instead they initially wrote it as bierd which is wrong so he updated it (to beard) on his ID and that the way it’s on every identification document he has, but I’m afraid that this could be a problem since the way it’s on his ID is not the same way it’s on my birth certificate and I tried to have this corrected and they said that they can’t update that unless I update my last name(the institution in charge of the birth certificate) which I can’t do because I’m in the middle of the K-1 process, so my question is could this be a problem? Could the consulate officer think that I tried to use false information?

And also I have my fiancé’s phone number registered as “my wife” in my phone could this be a red flag if I bring screenshots to the interview with this name?

'Too married' is a reason to deny K1, having her as your wife in your phone can sound pretty married to a consulate officer

@Greenbaum

They do not use your Father's id for any part of this process. The important thing is that all documents have the same LEGAL name (I assume this would be the name on your BC) contained on the document. So if I am the CO and I look at every piece of evidence you have submitted then your name should be the same way each and every instance it is on your paperwork. Your welcome to do the change now and delay the process or you can change it at marriage and any home country documents that you choose to change after the marriage.

They don't look at the phone. Not an issue.

Don't volunteer information at the interview unless asked by the CO and don't be untruthful as that will cause a band and denial.

A lot of times they won't notice a slight difference in names unless it stand out like a hammered thumb. If it is one letter off, I say leave and don't bring it up unless asked to explain then give your truthful answer. Have on prepared on who you will address this with them but I'm betting they are not going to see a small spelling error. Still your choice delay and fix or go onto the interview and work through this. Just don't be so nervous because this is not a big thing worse that can happen is you get a 221(g) and you fix it and then they will release your visa. I think they will miss it. JMHO
