Hi All,
My family and I had a F31 visa interview on 12th Dec 2018 and on 17th Dec Islamabad embassy emailed me asking me to fill up an additional questionnaire (also called DS 5535).Since then, there has been some updates  but still specifically my id says administrative processing while everyone else's says ready. My mom is the primary applicant. Additionnally, I have a valid F2 visa as I go to college in USA and my semester has already started.Do you think its wise to email embassy and get my passport back so I can travel while the administrative processing takes place or should I wait till the F31 approval? Would it hurt my F31 case? Thanks a lot

Will you lose F2 status if you don't attend a semester? If yes, then its probably better to request the passport back which will help you stay in F2 status and continue your education while AP for F31 is still in progress. That's my personal opinion so please take with a grain of salt :). Best Wishes!

My F2 is valid till 2020 but my I-20 expires on the last day of classes when i graduate which is this May if i take this last semester. I'm worries if calling my passport in middle of adminsitrative processing would hurt my case or raise any red flags or are they even going to return it or not. Thanks

Personally I would do so. I place a very high value on education. Why should it hurt your F31 case? The only thing I could see is maybe the F31 hurting your F1 because F1 does not allow immigrant intent but an F31 shows you want to migrate.

However if that comes up it can be easily explained. Yes you want to immigrate but NOT on F1. Many people with nonimmigrant visas simultaneously have immigrant petitions in process.

I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,

Neither are you here to live up to mine.

I don't owe no one no obligation
So everything is fine, fine

I said, I am that I am I am, I am, I am
