Hello All,

I have a friend whose daughter was born in USA. After her born, my friend`s family moved to Canada. Now she is going to be a University Student and she is planning to attend University in USA.

My question is when she applies to University in USA, will she considered as a American Resident? She is attending high school in Canada.

If she is not considered American Resident then how can she get American Resident?

Please reply.

So she is currently resides in Canada and will soon be moving to the US and will take up residency.

Presumably she has a US passport so doing so will not be an issue.

She becomes resident in the US by moving to the US.

Residency for a US school is determined by the school rules. A university usually requires the student to have lived in the state for one year to be considered for in-resident tuition.
