That is not true for the Philippines. Co-sponsors in the Philippines are accepted most of the time. But currently, they are not asking for financials from most applicants. It is recommended that you still prepare the financials for your interview.

If you are below the poverty level for your family then you must give the co-sponsor a chance. If you don't then you will be denied based on not meeting the financial requirements. So no it doesn't lessen but if needed it will help.

No. They put it in place for a reason. 

Cateogory: CR1

  • NOA1/Notice of receipt: Sept. 15, 2015
  • NOA2/I130 Approved: February 8, 2016 (NO RFE) :)
  • Process slowed down by us
  • Sent documents to NVC: April 11, 2016
  • Scan date: April 14/ May 7th (NVC said both I dont know why)
  • Case Complete: May 31, 2016 (No checklist) :dancing:

August 17, 2016: Visa Approved!!!! :dancing:

They only require a co-sponsor when u dont have detailed supporting evidence to your I-134.  They want to see more than your tax transcripts.
