I had mine done at a CAA office. Excellent quality.

i went to Walmart first but our lawyer said they wouldn't work so I went to the BCAA too, no problems using those... they are a little more expensive but they seem to know what they are doing there :thumbs:

I did mine myself:

-Put the digital camera on a chair on a table, stood in front of a white wall, hit the timer;

-Cropped & sized them in Photoshop; and

-Printed them onto Canon photo paper using a colour printer.

No problems, almost free. :thumbs:

Oh wow, you're the first person I've heard of who has ever done a passable passport pic by themself lol. Really though, that takes skill. They are so picky about the requirements with the photos that I didn't think it was even feasible for someone to do the picture themselves at home.

I am pretty much camera handy-capped, so in my case I think I will play it safe and head to LD or Walmart hehe.

It was easy. I just looked at the camera, took the photo, downloaded the photo to my computer, then adjusted the scale in Photoshop until my head was the right size. :lol: (Had to print off a couple of copies in B&W on plain paper & measure with a ruler & adjust until the size was perfect.) Then I cut the pictures to the required size using the big cutting thingy at Kinkos. Don't bother if you aren't comfortable with it. I'm just cheap when I know I can do it myself. And I got a nice photo of myself for once, instead of a super-goofy-looking one, like the ones on my driver's license, passport, etc. ;)

I did mine for my Canadian PR card but instead of a nice picture I look like I'm really pissed because I was so focused on not smiling and keeping my eyes open etc. but it worked fine and compared with Blacks-sooo much cheaper. you probably don't even need the real photoshop just preview (Mac) or picture viewer (windows) will allow you to print out the correct size. all the "professional" places use digital cameras now, no one can tell the difference

I focused on getting my head to print out the correct size then just trimmed down with scissors after they were printed

I got my mom to take mine with her digital camera and printed them with her printer program after resizing them to the right size. They looked great. My husband got his taken at Walmart for his passport and they looked like #######. The ones my mom took looked so much better. I had no problems with them for the I-130 and plan on doing the same for the photos for the medical and interview.
