I agree. As long as many more people called regarding the backlog on Montreal, NVC and MTL should eventually find a way out to speed up. I told hubby this long waiting time at MTL and he felt very bad. He said he would contact senator as well when we begin to start waiting long time next year.

I randomly ran into some signatures here of CR1/IR1 member applied back in 2004 and at that time, it only take 2 months to get the interview....

We should try to push harder to try any possible way, as you said, it never hurt.

Please add me into this list too !

After reading through all previous posts here, I am quite dissapointed and feel so sad that MTL takes ~4-6 months to issue us interviews.

Is there really nothing we can do to ask government people to help to resolve the log-back issue? I am just wondering is it possible to ask people from higher authority to look it up. It is so crude to keep couples waiting yet another half year even the case is so close to be completed.....

Really sad...... :crying:

We contacted our state senator last week, I'll keep you updated on the progress with that. The US citizen in your relationship might want to try it as well. Can't hurt.

As far as I know, for the most part, senators can't do anything to speed up the backlog at Montreal, they can only help with case-specific problems (one lady had her case lost by Montreal, and the senator stepped in, so they immediately "found" it, and scheduled her interview.)

However, I still think contacting them can't hurt. They need to know that this is a serious issue that needs attention, so the more of us that write, hopefully the sooner they will do something to start catching up on some of these interviews.

April 28 2007 sent I-130 to NVC

May 22 2007 application transfered to CSC

July 11 2007 received NOA1, decide to apply CR1 instead of K3

Aug 14 2007 touched (not sure if it is touched before Aug 14)

Aug 21 2007 NOA2 in snail mail :)

Aug 27 2007 NVC received our case, number is assigned.

Sep 11 2007 DS3032 and AOS bill generated and mailed out

Sep 12 2007 mailed out DS3032 from Canada and hubby mailed AOS bill in US. DS3032 will arrive NVC 3 days slower than AOS bill.

Sep 18 2007 Auto msg says NVC received DS3032, didn't mention AOS bill yet.

Sep 24 2007 IV fee bill generated

Oct 8 received IV fee bill. Still waiting for 864form

Oct 13 received 864form letter. It was issued on Sep 24 at NVC. Mailed out 864 on Oct 15

NVC agent said they don't receive IV fee bill nor 864. Send out IV fee bill again end of Oct.

Nov 8 IV fee bill entered to system

Nov 12 DS230 generated. But agent still said 864 is not received yet.

Nov 20 resend out 864 again(Hubby forgot to write case number on documents last time)

Nov 27 NVC Auto message said received 864, now waiting for 230

Nov 29 230 delivered. Will arrive at NVC next day.

Dec 3 NVC received 230 and put into its system

Dec 13 NVC operator told us the case is in administrative process.

Dec 14 Called operator again, and magically the case is completed!

Hi,

After yet another disappointing month's call tonite to NVC, I thought I might search the internet and found you. THANK YOU all you that are here and comelly for starting this post.

I dont' have all the dates for our case but for those of you who are waiting for an interview here are the ones that matter:

Our case was complete June 6, 2007 and I just got thru to NVC tonite. Scheduling for October is done.

I'm sorry to say we are not on the October list. I know you all know how that feels. We're married 5 years so whichever visa that is.

From the stats you are compiling here it seems that if your case was complete after mid-April, you are SOL so far.

I'm anxious to see if those of you with case complete later in April or in May will get anywhere in October.

Guess next I'll call and write to Senator's office per your examples/suggestions, but I'd like to know what the results for the rest of you are. It would be good to be able to cite the delay we are seeing in our growing sample.

Thanks again for being here, it's a small reassurance.

Two questions:

1. Has anyone had issues with being able to get cross border to come visit US spouse? Hubby was bothered once but he convinced them he was going back after the weekend. I hear technically coming to US is not allowed but border guards routinely let such cases across.

2. CAN someone reiterate the list of documents hubby will have to bring to the interview? Good to be prepared since there is such short notice.

Sad, Sad C

PS just noticed I didn't mention, yes we are waiting for the interview in Montreal... funny how I used to think that was a nice place.

Hi C&C and welcome. I understand how frustrating the wait can be and you have come to the right place! I will add you to this list.

As for crossing the border, you might find this other Canada forum thread helpful: Crossing the border while waiting for visa

Thanks for adding us. When I get a moment I'll look thru our files and see what other dates I can find. Our experience has been they've always taken just a few weeks to process each thing, UNTIL NOW.

I noticed some of you have not tried or have trouble getting thru to NVC. We've noticed that the best time to call is at about 7:45 am their time.

Just talked to hubby and he just talked to NVC whereas I talked to them last night. Last night I was told we are not on the list, but his morning hubby was told us they haven't finished scheduling for October yet. As others of you have said before, trying to make sense of what they have to offer will just drive you crazy.

BTW, i talked to an immigration lawyer after our September rejection and was told that for Mexico the wait is 12 months. She also commented on the often extremely short notice you have for the interview if you only rely on the letter in the mail. With the extra time involve in mail, you could get your mailed notice just a couple weeks before the interview not giving you a lot of time to plan. Something to be aware of - I guess we should be grateful there is even this number to call to get the info maybe a little earlier. Which is why I'd like to find out what documents are requested at the interview... am sure will find something on this if I read some more threads but please share what you know.

Good luck to all

hey TM the new formating is beautiful-and I feel so special that you tried it out on me.

We never had any problems crossing the border-well actually I (the USC) nearly always had to chat with Canadian immigration when I was crossing. But the hubby is always just waived through. Apparently I appear to be the less trustworth one. The only time that the hubby had to talk to USCIS when crossing the border was when he flew down in 2003 for us to get married. He had no proof of ties to Canada, other than the return ticket, and they still let him through. I wouldn't recommend that course of action, but as long as you have something to show that you are just visiting-lease, letter from your employer stating how long you're on vacation, etc.- you should be fine. That silly border didn't keep you from meeting each other, it shouldn't keep you from visiting either.

met summer 1999, summer 2000 hooked up-whoo hoo summer fling

Glady, what do you mean by that - can you get yourself scheduled for and get a medical BEFORE you get your interview letter? I thought you had to wait until you get your letter, although then I know you may not have a lot of time to schedule it. Please explain how you are going about this. Did you get a list of doctors who can do the exam somehow and get an appointment in advance? Hubby's in Toronto so would be looking for a doc there.

I spoke to someone in Dr. Seiden's office a few weeks back and was told that they even heard of people getting the letter in the mail only 3 days ahead of the interview. I'll just quickly give a synopsis of the info you need. The medical is good for a year so DH may want to get the medical done whenever he gets a chance. The two doctors in the GTA are Medisys (T,R afternoons 12:30-14:45, 95 St. Clair Ave. West, 12th Floor, 416-364-3008) or Dr. Seiden (M, W mornings 7:00-8:00, 145 Front Street, 416-362-5603). Most people have good experiences with Dr. Seiden although my father's doctor says Seiden is a bit #######. The Medisys people sounded more mellow on the phone so... I'm IR5 (well, actually my parents) so what I've been told is that you need originals of whatever copies that you sent in to the NVC and, of course, the medicals and passport at the interview. Take at least 2 extra copies of everything. I guess you can never be too obsessive when dealing with MTL.

DH is correct. The September scheduling is finished (no kidding!) as the NVC is so fond of saying. It's fun how the NVC always tells you what is obvious or not really helpful. The October schedule will be finalized tomorrow or next Monday. BTW, a belated welcome to Visa Journey is sent your way!!!!
