NZ Flatmate being discharged from rehab to home this afternoon. I am hoping it goes well. She's telling everyone she is going home with a view to sorting the place out, and getting rid of things so as to potentially make her way into care sooner rather than later. I'm not buying it, all she has ever talked to me about is getting out of that place and going home

I'll have to try and raise my youngest on the phone today.  It's his 41st birthday. He was born in the middle of a terrible snow storm on the Island, I got to hospital following a snowplow, with half an hour to spare. I sure don't miss weather like that.

I remember my dad pulled something similar when he was sick. He was totally unable to care for himself because he was a huge fall risk and his house had a couple of stairs to go up/down into different rooms. The doctor quickly nipped that in the bud. He had to go stay with family or a facility and that was that.  There is no way in his condition he could have cleaned his house out either. It took the Dane and I months.

Happy birthday to him!

Round 37 of how did we end up married: The Dane doesn't think that music education should be part of regular schooling. It turns out when he went to school, they didn't even teach the children to read music or require them to play an instrument.  How this came out was the oldest child is starting on recorder at school and I'm seriously excited and so is the Troll, who got his very own recorder. He's been playing it all over the house and trying to keep tune with some of the irish whistle videos I've been watching. It is cute, if slightly loud. The Dane thinks this is horrible, not only from a noise perspective, but he thinks learning music is a waste of time.  Mind you, his brother is a professional musician.

Like seriously, who did I marry? I can't even get through a day without music.

Also, my lungs hurt from trying to relearn the oboe and my lips are totally sore.  😂

We did a bit a music as kids in school too. What I don't like here is the way it is shoved down the kids throat. from k-5 it seems just playing in music class learning totally inappropriate music and dance. no I don't want my child learning how to be a stripper. Then in middle school they have to take band. I'm against anything that is a must do outside of school hours and required late nights. Highschool well I have no idea we pulled the kids before they got more then 3 days in HS.

I had 2 chickens escape the chicken playground today. I have no idea how they got out. Picked them back out and hoped they would go back to the spot so we could fix it. Darn chickens are keeping their secrets.

I need my back yard to dry out it is nothing but flooded muddy mess. I'm in the middle of a hill how is any water sticking around???

Don't know all the details yet. LC thinks it's pretty funny. I'm thinking of texting my buddy who moved to Indianapolis last year because we fixed him up with this chick about 18 months ago.

My husband had the same things to say about it being forced. I totally disagree!  We spent a lot of time in elementary learning music - singing G rated things and Jewish/Christian songs, the recorders (several different types), piano, bells, and then a woodwind or string. It was mandatory in middle and high school too, but I loved band because I could pick up any instrument and play it, not just mine.

What I mean by forced is after school hours. Where the child  has to spend several additional hours a week at school. I'm all for during class and homework practice. The driving your kid here and there for stupid practice is beyond bull.
