Winter arrived early this year. B but it hasn't been too cold. 

But man that house in Orlando sounds better and better. I should have bought one back in like 2009, 2010 when they were giving it away...

You can still get a very nice house for a very affordable price in Florida, but you have to live in Florida.  I think of it as being like Minnesota's opposite - for all the months we have that are too cold to go out, they have an equal number of ones that are too hot.

The littlest Dane learned how to climb onto the sofa today. That is not my favorite thing.

A 32 year old just died in Minnesota from the flu. That hits close to home.  

 

The Dane is still not feeling 100% and went to work today during a blizzard. They've since closed the highway and the rest of the roads are NTA. I went out just in town earlier to fill out my background check stuff for new job and it was basically a complete whiteout beyond the edges of town.  We have so much snow and still have 3 months of winter left. We've already had to rake the snow off the roof and one of my neighbors has from the ground to the roof covered in a snow drift, completely blocking their windows. 

 

 

They should look similar to this, Snowball is a good mommy and lets us pick them up so they will be nice and cuddly. 

 

 

Every time you post about the snow I remember full well those days. Still don't miss em.

Can probably put away the heavier jacket after that, 'tis the season to be seasonable man.

I remember when the bubble popped. One of my guys bought 2 houses in Orlando for about 70k each. I briefly thought about it. But I had just spent a bundle on the wedding, then the older kid was born, that kinda sidetracked me from it. Those houses going for around 300k now. 

I think it was because a lot of those homes were vacation homes bought with HELOC loans, and when the crunch hit, they were the first properties abandoned. Florida and Vegas got hit hard. The 2 places were full of second homes. 

But I also think there's another decline coming, if not a bubble....

back in 2009 my father in law bought 3 houses in a suburb in orlando for about 120k each and sold one of them not too long ago for almost 500k, instead of just giving it to us 🙄 haha

In the Midwest bargains could be had way into 2011. A co-worker of mine in Dubuque Iowa, at the time, bought a fairly large fixer upper on the edge of DT amidst a bunch of old stately victorians. After all of the state and local incentives for buying such a house were added in, the guy bought it for $40,000 with a loan that was like 3% interest. The house probably can't be sold for as much profit as the Orlando houses you're talking about, but still... he bought it for roughly half of his annual salary (70k).

Yeah a lotta places still haven't recovered at all from that bubble.

Santa Fe's median price of a home finally rose above the previous high from 2007. Like Nevada and Florida, there were and still are a lot of second homes around here. People like the summer weather, mid-80's and no humidity.
