Have been trying to get this place ready before pretty Russian girl gets here.

New couch, finally got a dining table, new TV (okay, that was for me and because the old one broke so of course the replacement is bigger, 4K, HDR, 'smart' … and cost about 1/3 as much), slowly clearing out boxes of books that I have on my Kindle or have no desire to re-read.

Also need to clear out old clothes and free up some closet space (she won't have much when she gets here, but I don't anticipate that lasting …)

 

Oddly domestic for a 40-something programmer ...

At first you're like "what?" and then you realize a low-end 50" TV costs about as much as the phones they used to give away for "free".

 

And I've been with AT&T so long on mobile that it's gone from AT&T Wireless to Cingular and back to AT&T...

It is thoughtful. I remember my husband did that for me before I moved to Denmark and I was really touched.

Other guy who married an Ecu told us this, read man:  She spent nearly a full day (all Many hours) on something like Many (2+2) plane flights/connections, finally arrived at his casa, made an immediate beeline for his closet, and vigorously began tossing "unacceptable" clothing on the floor for discard, sigh man.  She also made him remove his deer antlers and guy stuff from the walls, sigh man.  Had Mrs. T-B. tried this, her then-shapely hindhalf-of-halfers would have been on the first one-way conveyance back to Ecu, bye man.

Mrs. T-B. was sincerely thrilled (beyond thrilled) to behold the smorgasbord of high-quality stuff available resale, ecstatic she man.  She rapidly built her wardrobe with designer (true designer) stuff by that means, sharp eye she man.  In fact, two of our road trips centered around visiting towns/cities that had good resale stores, delighted at both sightseeing and purchasing she man.

 

Warsh or dry-clean the stuff, and no one can tell that it wasn't full-price new, si and no man.

To both eat in front of computer at my desk (which I frequently do), she'd have to sit on my lap. Which might have some advantages, but probably isn't great for regular meals.
