Neither did I before I moved out here.  I think it is a coping mechanism on their parts for dealing with being overweight.

You guys are about to get a rant.

 

440+ days after filing for N-400, the Dane is getting an interview. Did they schedule that interview in Minneapolis at the field office?  No. Did they schedule it in the closer Fargo?  No. They scheduled in Duluth, which is 5 hours away.

 

Maybe it would be a cute time for a road trip to Duluth you'd think, right?  Nope. I'm scheduled all week for being on-call, but I can't even do it when the Dane isn't here, so now we both need to switch around our schedules, pay for hotel, etc.

 

If I find out the ND filers got Fargo, I'm going to blow my lid.

But the Dane can go alone, no? Are you going just for moral support because everything I've heard is just the applicant needs to be there for the N400 interview, even those whose application relies on marriage.

 

Anyway, that totally sucks.

He can go alone, but my job is a little weird. So, I sit at home or within 5 minutes of work and respond when there is a call. These shifts are overnight and rely on the Dane being there for childcare in the event of a call. It doesn't pay enough for childcare because I get a nominal amount for doing it.  In any case, I have to be off work if he or my mother isn't here.

I had actually been planning on going at some point, but I'm scheduled for that whole week and bringing all of the monsters along sounds terrible.

Duluth is a Many-hour drive, huh Nola-B. ma'am?  Could you drive in the night before, do the interview and possibly the ceremony if same-day, then beat it back, huh ma'am?  You'd be dead upon return, but thrilled to have it all over, si ma'am.
