This is 2019, why does anywhere need to declare public health emergency about measles?  🤬 They need to start holding the parents criminally liable for any kid who gets sick or gets someone else sick. Negligent homicide? Child endangerment?

Trophie, sometimes the outbreaks are in areas where there's a concentration of illegal immigrants from certain areas. That's the part they're not reporting. 

 

Not in this case tho, this time is a lot of certain religious sects. Currently,  there's also an outbreak in Boro park near me. But those kids don't go to our schools.

That's a high percentage of downs syndrome in that community, they seem to think it's the vaccines vs the inbreeding...

Yes, I did know that. It is a similar issue in MN with a different sect.

The kids don't need to share school space to spread measles. It lingers in the air for a super long time, so any public space will do.

Well you know, their limited in choices. Then often marry first cousins. Sometimes it's to keep the money in the family. Sometimes it's due to lack of potential mates. 

I worked closely with that community for about 3 years. 

They don't share public spaces with our kids. 

You know about "the line"? They surround their neighborhood with a string, it's visible, usually strung up on utility poles. They're not to spend any money outside of that string. Yeah, that string is there, and is constantly checked and repaired by a "string crew".

Oh yeah money. Especially money. It's an ancient greed driven culture (but many cultures are the same way). If you read that wiki page, it specifically mentions the Boro park sect, and the debates. 

They'd never patronize any establishment outside those boundaries.
