So, you might think, knowing that I have to leave in a jiffy, should the need arise, the Dane would scrap the thick ice off my car this morning. He didn't, because he would never do that. Yesterday might even be the first time he has EVER cleaned the snow off my car without me asking explicitly and he only did it because he would have been using it.  🙄🙄

 

And he wonders why I'd rather have a date night with just myself than with him this weekend.

He didn't know where to dispose of it, that's what happened ma'am.

But seriously, hmmmph man.  Scrape-icing would be our first thought, si ma'am.

 

Second thought, see ma'am:  How come vehicles aren't garaged to preclude icing, huh ma'am?

I know you live somewhere with new houses, but the older houses in my town weren't built with garages as they were built pre-automative age. A very tiny shed garage was added in the 1940s. My car barely fits in it, but it is full with our generator, snowblower, etc.  The floor of it is just paving tiles on sand and the winds this weekend were 60+, so we were hoping, as always, that it might blow over.

 

It would probably also take longer to get out to the garage and open it than just to scrape enough to see on my windshield. I have a spray that instantly defrosts, if need be too.

 

Long term plan is to build a large garage structure, half for personal, half for the Dane's business.

It's very bad in Christchurch. I was up until all hours, given the time difference. I rang the flatmate, who had no idea what was going on, but was concerned there were police at the mosque over the road from her.  While I was speaking to her the police came to her door. She has caregivers 6 times a day, and told the police officer she cannot lock up, they need to be able to come and go throughout the day. I wish she had not had to give up her little dog, he would have at least barked if someone odd were to approach.  Her last caregiver goes at 1900, and she assured me she would lock up after they'd been.

I sent messages back and forth to our comm center, some of those people are going to need some serious counseling once this winds up. We all thought the same thing really, how safe we were tucked up in our little corner at the bottom of the world.

 

 

Not impressed to awake after a few hours sleep this morning to hear sirens and see police cars roaring up and down the road. Another raid, and at least this time they hauled someone off.  I would think he will be back home by suppertime.  The Sherriff came to our door, asking if we knew how long the ATV parked over there had been at the house. Always. They roar around on that thing night and day. If it's stolen, it wasn't recently. I also let him have it both barrels.  Blame it on sleep deprivation, or the ongoing crisis at home, whatever. There is a long and chequered history at that house over the road, and I expect something to be done about it. Sharpish.

I got a couple of these a few days ago while I was in HD. 

There's a 1.75 instant rebate. 

Just installed them and Wow! 

I have phillips 100w LEDs in the house. 

But these are much brighter. 

I just ordered 20 of these. 

(My house has about 100 light fixtures)
