What do you guys think about this?

3-4 years ago, as a favor, I hire this guy whom otherwise I would not have hired. His salary just under a hundred k.

He's no shining star, I'd call it "lackluster"...

He gets married, invites 4-5 people from the office. Not 1 single person from management was invited.

We're a small outfit of 22 staff + part timers,  and 5 management.

A few of us spoke about it in passing. Now, I wouldn't have attended. But we're kind of insulted.

It's pretty common etiquette to invite your boss right? Why wouldn't you? I would...

Btw we have a practice of giving a 1000 dollar bonus to someone getting married.

For me, I wouldn't consider it common etiquette to invite my boss(es) to my wedding. It's a total case by case situation. There are a couple of bosses I've worked for that I might have invited, at the time, but most of them I would not have. I got married in Colombia and my boss at the time counts as one of the worst people I've ever met so it wasn't a factor.

That said, your final line seals it. He/she would have to be a pretty horrible boss for me not to send an invitation if the organization gave me $1k. Also, if you hired him as a favor then that's not very gracious to not invite you.

Believe me I wouldn't have went for many reasons. Such as him not inviting the others, I'm no fan of his, etc...

He invites a girl who's worked for me for the entire history of this company. She rode my coat tail for her entire working career. I'm equally disappointed in her. I have helped her and her family through several difficult times. She went. There's loyalty for ya...

Honestly if I was her, knowing that I'm not invited, I would have boycotted.

When I attend a wedding of an employee, I stuff a thousand into the envelope on top of the bonus. I never want to be called cheap (like Tarklar).

The amount of #### we do for our guys....

<sigh>

Ok now I'm pissed....

The office girl (among the not invited) gossiping with me, says, "you know, no one is speaking of this wedding, he had to have told them to not say anything", that's obvious.

Now why did it have you come to this?

All he had to do was "hey boss will you come to my wedding?"

Me, "oh hey thanks, but I plan to be way that weekend".

But now, he in essence, drew a line in the office not only between me and him, but for the other staff as well.

Offering my tiny rant here:

Two Sundays ago, my dad starts acting bonkers. It was scary. Thought he was having a stroke, and we rushed him to a good hospital. They tell us he's having a brain bleed because of the blood thinner he was just put on. It's a new line of drug, one that apparently has no known reversal drug provided on the market. Imagine that.. the FDA approving a drug that while is helpful, can kill you without a counteracting drug, and they just can't be bothered to approve it. So dad still continues to bleed. His eye swells shut and they have to sedate him. The doctor is freaked out by the scans and they say they need to airlift him 2hrs away to the best trauma hospital. Four hours later they still haven't flown him because of bad weather, so they decide to just ambo him there. They rush him into ICU and have him on heavy meds. The neuro team take a look at his scans and tell us not only does he have a brain bleed, but he's having Pituitary Apoplexy, a serious condition where a macroadenoma (very large tumor) swells up, dies, and starts bleeding. It's compressing the optic nerve and carotid. They work for many days to get dad's vitals stable because it wouldn't be safe to operate yet. Surgery slated for tomorrow. My husband is our only transport now, so he's been doing 2hrs over and 2hrs hours back and then to work almost every day, but this week is graduation week and he handles all the night shifts - impossible to get my Mom to the hospital. I've bought her a hotel room down there to stay for a few days. There are some other options to get her driven down there (my other sister is a pain), but my mom has been so upset by her, I'm worried about her health too. She started yelling at Mom, that Dad was going to die (in front of him.. made his vitals go crazy again from the stress) and demanded his car... so Mom wants not much to do with her. There's risks with this surgery yes, but without it, he would die certainly. The doctors say if they can save his eyesight, and there are no complications, his prognosis would be good after a long recovery.

Meanwhile, the USCIS screwed up my husband's 10yr card. He's listed as a F instead of an M. We laughed a lot, then got pretty mad. We were supposed to be taking care of that, and then this happened. There's just been no time. And I assume we can't even file for citizenship now with a messed up card they will want back.

Also it won't stop raining. Plants need sunshine ya know.

I just took a bunch of clothes out of storage that the Troll was wearing at 3 (he's the tallest boy in the incoming pre-K class of around 60) and they fit the Tank at 15 months.   The Tank is going to be as big as the Dane, for sure.
