Very good news and I want to share with everyone.

The very long journey of my IR1visa got ended today when my visa was approved this morning.

These are the how whole process took process.

Medical process:

I sent out the interview package that I received from NVC to my wife. She received within 5 days via USPS express mail. She used it to do her medicals while the package sent to her by the embassy was received 3 days prior to the interview (what a delay on their part). At the holy trinity clinic, medical officer told her that she should come for the results by herself by three weeks time. Which means the result is gonna be ready two days after the interview date this is because the Medlab always delay the blood test (HIV). She was very lucky to meet one guy who works at the clinic and he’s the one who used to go collect the completed lab results Medlab to the Holy trinity who promised to contact the guys to expedite. True to his words all the test results was completed in one week instead of three weeks.

She received all the packages from the holy trinity, medlab, and Akai house two weeks before the interview date. That was good time save.

It has now become a routine that all the completed medical results to be carried by applicants and submitted directly to embassy for the interview.

The cliniks don’t send them anymore bcos of possibility of results being lost in transits.

Interview success!!!

My wife had the first batch interview this morning

According her they asked her to submit her passport, medical results, 2 passports size pictures, all the evidence of ongoing relationship, she gave them letters, post cards, bunch of westernunion receipts, pictures, life insurance certificate having her name as major beneficiary, we also filed married and joint on the tax return for the past three years.

All the documents were collect before the actual ineterview.

Her appointment time was 0830 and the interview was over by 1030 Ghanaian local time.

She was the third person to be interviewed on this morning.

She said she was interviewed by very pretty young lady by her age. She called my wife to window. My wife approached her with a beam of smile and usual greetings, good morning ma’m, how are u doing this morning? According to my wife she also responded back with a smile.

She said the whole interview later turned into a mere conversation with some question not relevant to the case at stake.

Some of the questions asked my wife are as follows:

Your husband name

How did u meet?

Where did you meet

(We were students at university of Ghana)

When did each completed the school

How did I get into the states

What work I do here

Do we have children

Did I previously married

What I bought for her at her b’day

How often do we talk

How does my wife know that I love her

Do my mother loves her……..

My wife was so poised for the occasion as she answered all the questions with perfection.

She was later approved and was issued the green paper to come on Friday June 01 for the visa package.

Truly the whole process didn’t surprised me bcos were actually prepared, I prepared her psychology and materially,

I gave her all the motivation that she is going to be approved.

We ran through all these questions on everyday and her documents were well arranged.

We owed this success to God and all VJ members for given out more information to others for which I benefited greatly from it.

According my wife three other applicants were turned away for failure to present supporting documents. She said one lady went there with just the appointment letter in her hand.

Please let me know if somebody needs some clarifications on some information.

Beautiful and detailed story. I sent a copy to my fiance to read. Even though we are doing the K-1, the way your wife poised herself will be beneficial to us. I can only imagine how many people go to these interviews with lack of evidence because they haven't come to sites like VJ to show them the importance of good, organized evidence. Congratulations to you and you wife!

First I want to congratulate you and your wife.

My fiance had his hiv test done at Akai House, the employees there say they will be mailing his results to the embassy. They keep telling him to call to see if they have mailed them. When he calls, they keep him on hold forever, after holding they tell him to call back another day, hmm, with no answer yet. He comleted his medical, in March, I think middle of the month. I'm going to email the embassy to see if they have received his medical exam yet. I was wondering if none of the clinics mail results, why would they tell him they are going to mail them? I'm glad to have read this post. As always the right doesn't know what the left is doing. Do you know how long they have been making the patients pick up their results at the clinics?

I also wanted to add, the Akai House flat out refused to give my fiance a copy of the vaccination worksheet. I told him don't leave until he gets it. They said, the card with the vaccinations on it is good enough. He told them the vaccination worksheet says give copy to patient. Then they said well we already mailed it to the embassy. How could that be when at that time he still had 1 more Hep B left and they were saying call later to see if we mailed your medicals. They are crazy, how did they become nurses or even doctors and cant follow directions? Well anyhow no success with that. I know, I've read so much about needing that later, what to do now? Doesn't seem like we'll get that.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi akim & oda,

I think the clinics are changing the system now in Ghana. They prefer the applicants to come for the results and send them directly to the embassy in a sealed envelope. You don't have to temper with enveloped as they may be rejected by the consulate. My wife did her physicals in Holy trinity and the Lab work @ Medlab. They told her to come for the results three weeks but she was forturnate to get everything done in a week time.

The vacinations was done by Akai house and the results (weeksheet) was sealed in an envelope. They gave it to my wife who took it to the embassy.

I know this new process is given some extra burden to the applicants but it's the surest way to send your own results to embassy at the time you need it most!
