Phone Verification on Income?

Not unless you are applying for an H1 work visa..in your case they are more interested in finding out whether your sponsor can support you without having to depend on public funds.

Okay excellent. Nobody has ever heard of a case where in an I-130 or K3 situation they have called the employer (from the letter from employer submission) and verify income?? I just ran into a major snag at work.

Not sure what you mean by 'snag' at work, but you may want to keep in mind that your letter of employment needs to be verifiable at any moment. More than likely they will not call to verify...but I remember a post a few days ago from a VJ-member who reported that the consulate called him to verify his language abilities and how he communicates w/ his fiancee. I believe he and his fiancee were going through a Latin American country...but it was a completely surprising thing because there wasn't anyone else here that had heard of such a thing. This member was called during the interview....to see if his Spanish skills were adequate. So that was a form of verification. Just because it hasn't happened to anyone here, doesn't mean it will not happen. Just a small FYI for you to keep in mind.

and why you have to panic? anyways, they take in consideration the last year tax return ....i heard somebody on VJ that asked the embassy if it is a problem the USC doesn't have a job for the moment but the last year tax return was $30000 and the embassy said it is not a problem.

You do what you can with what you have. There are many employers who now days do not hand out letters of employment anymore. What they'll give you is a phone # for the person who wants to verify employment to call, each call costs about $15 unless the entity calling is a government agency. So if you don't get a letter of employment and get a phone # to call instead... what can you do? Nothing.

Well that makes me feel better then. My last two years tax returns show income between 30k and 40k (kind of depressing when you compare it to your gross income). And I did have a letter submitted as well. It seems like tax returns, bank statements, a letter from your employer, Affidavit form, and paystubs are all enough to verify income without them actually calling your employer.

They never verified income by phone, FYI.
