our interview was on monday 9/9 in ft myers fl

we've send the packet  on jan 11 2019

overall very pleasant experience, but officer didn't approve the case right away, actually he said that we will receive something in the mail in the next 120 days/

two days later the status changed that interview was completed, but the case needs to be reviewed.

should we be worried?

Same thing happened to us. That only means that the officer who did your interview handed your case to his/her supervisor, because he probably does not have authorization to approve cases directly.

"On September 16, 2019, your inquiry about why your case is taking longer than our processing time, referral number SR**********, was assigned to an officer for response."

My inquiry has finally been assigned to an officer after almost 2 months. Does anyone know how long it takes to get a response once it has been assigned to an officer? What should I expect?

I don’t know what you should expect. But I know you should not expect an answer.

Well I’m glad you at least know that your interview is ready to be scheduled. I haven’t received that update yet and hope I do soon. I have set up an appointment with a local representative for tomorrow so I’m hoping that she’s able to be of assistance in getting my ead/ap.

Overall though, I’d say there isn’t much else we can do other than wait. This entire process is very frustrating, but we must try and remain patient.

Hey - I'm really sorry that you're dealing with this, it is an unbelievably frustrating spot to be in. I did want to just share my experience - we filed in November 2018 and were approved for EAD/AP after 256 days. We tried everything we could think of - requesting expedites, speaking with our congresswoman and senator, contacting USCIS and badgering them almost every week. Our politicians were next to useless, they said they couldn't do anything except for submit additional expedite requests on our behalf. We filed Service Requests after were out of the typical timeframe and we never received word about that either.

All in all it honestly got us nowhere. We actually ended up doing a free legal consultation at around 240 days, because we couldn't handle it anymore. The woman we spoke with told us that our wait was unusual, but she also said that requesting expedites and getting our politicians involved had most likely ended up extending our wait by about 2 months. She honestly believed that we would have been approved 1-2 months quicker if we had just left things as they were.

I know there are definitely cases where it benefits people or has appeared to benefit them to request expedites or check on their cases, but my suggestion is that if you don't seem to be getting anywhere that way, just stop. Waiting is terrible but I guess it's possible that attempting to speed the process up will only slow it down.

I hope you receive good news soon ❤️

I totally agree.

We experienced the same thing as yourselves during the K1 process so we've now learned that waiting and being patient is the best path forward for AOS

What's funny is I wrote my congressman multiple times and never got a single response. With Ombudsman we got a response long after we were already approved and that response was only a followup to let us know that they were still working on our inquiry. Not that it matters now but to date we never did receive closure from Ombudsman....lol.

My inquiries directly to USCIS, although I can't prove this, was the most likely  reason our case was delayed as long as it ended up being. (Long story on that one).

Now that we are in the AOS process we were fortunate enough to receive the EAD/AP in just over 3 months. Now, after our status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" as of March 27th we've heard nothing. Nothing to do now but sit and wait.

Yeah, timelines are all over the place but that's expected because the number of people applying in Houston vs. say Cleveland is vastly different. So calling in to complain that someone else got in before you even though they applied after will be met with a generic response.....why? Because there are a multitude of factors that play into it that they can use as an explanation to justify the wait. If anything, it probably aggravates them more and the last thing you want is someone to delay your case longer out of spite....

So yeah, it would really be helpful if we were all considerate enough to delay our inquiries till we really need to and let those that are way out of whack their opportunity to get answers.

I saw a bulletin a few weeks ago from the USCIS stating that in order to reduce backlog they were going to start moving around interviews to offices with less backlog. This would require travel but I have absolutely no issues with doing so. Anyone know if this is the case? If so, this is an idea they should have implemented from the get go.....

Hello wonderful January Filers, I know it has been a long time since I posted here. And I believe majority of us are busy with our lives.

I hope many of us have been approved for EAD or GC.

To those still waiting I wish you best of luck for good news.

Please, are there some of us whose Form I 485 showing case received or fingerprint review completed or Request for Initial evidence received?

Last 2016, my husband and her ex wife filed their tax together. (status: marriage filing joint)

On AOS application, in  I 864 form income tax reported for 2016,2017,2018 with tax transcript needs to be provided.

Do we need to include my husband’s ex-wife salary too? or we can just write his total income tax and exclude the other?

Thank you❤️

I got worried about the new Health Insurance rule, but apparently it doesn't affect anyone who filed before OCT 15. So we all good.
