what did you get from the excerpt that i have shared twice there? What did Paul Ryan say?

If the congress (both sides) wanted President Trump to own the shutdown, they should have sent the bill to the WH and let him refuse to sign it.  They did not do this, so they own a portion of the shutdown.  All this, we aren't going to do this because of the threat of a veto is stupid.  Pass the bill and let him veto it, what are they cowards.

What both sides? Who was the Majority Leader in the Senate and the Speaker of the House back in Dec 20? who was responsible for making sure it will get to the WH for the signing? And who, in the excerpt i quoted, said the President did not want to sign the bill?

casually saying "both sides" does sound like short term memory loss.

And please remember who proudly said he will shutdown the government. PROUDLY. Which side is that?

how could he possibly forget that sentence, you have repeated it ad nauseum , you wish to call him a child fine, how do you handle a spoiled child? You set an example and hope he will repent his spoiled ways, whining and crying and finger pointing do nothing but stir him on.

He is not going to move on from the wall, game on, what is the democratic response?

Do you have a short memory? Wasn't too long ago that the GOP strategy was taking the ball and going home. They really should have tried harder to get things done the last 2 years when they had majorities in both houses. It's not going to get easier losing the house, and after 8 years of the tea party BS, I doubt they can expect anything less from the Democrats.

They repealed Obamacare how many times before they actually had the power to do it.. then not once

They are all the same

hey those are some latin words.... ;)

he in this context = @Bill & Katya ? how sure are you he had not forgotten about it? i shared multiple times of the timeline of this shutdown, and what event lead to the current shutdown and who OWNS it. But apparently the point about the President being at fault skips his mind (based on his comments).

You want to know what is the democratic response from my perspective? The guy who shuts down the government, should bring it back up.

Why should anyone else be held responsible for something they had no part in? So it is fine for Trump to shutdown the government willingly, but somehow others must now accommodate him?

Where is the logic it that? Even house Republicans did not fully support the Wall idea, so everyone should just push him to concede.

Easy isn't?

And maybe Mitch also needs a reminder of how the Congress works

but apparently he is too hung up to "get the president a bill he is willing to sign" that he forgot how the congress works - that shows how the Republican is operating by playing dumb.

I still would have voted for him regardless considering the alternative.  All politicians blatantly and consistently lie, especially those in Washington.  I know, Trump is the king of lying, whatever.  Illegal aliens do cost this country a great deal of money, but who knows how much as we have no idea of the amount of illegals that are present in the country.  It could be in the range of 250 bil, and of course those that are allowing Trump to live in their heads rent free will find something somewhere in the biased media to say he was wrong and therefore the worst liar on the planet.  I actually have more respect for him now considering the constant barrage he receives from the "journalists", of course none of this would have happened if we had only elected Hillary Clinton, no one cares that she actually did collude (proof exist) with foreigners including the Russians during her campaign because that is allowed, she never would have fired Saint Comey even after what he did to her.  I love the double standards that exist in the Washington leadership class.

As to Twitter, feel free to use any platform you like, I do not really care, but that doesn't change the childishness of it.

So according to you, since all politicians blatantly and consistently lie, and "Trump is the king of lying, whatever.", you " don't really like his rhetoric", and he keeps using the childish medium called Twitter. So you voted for him and would still vote for him.

Fair enough, that is the logical train of thought i suppose. And you have more respect for him now.

"It could be in the range of 250 bil", Why stop at 250bil since there is no evidence to support the claim? it could be 1 trillion (to match the new debt caused by the tax cut), could also be 2 trillion? and it could be that Obama wasn't born in the USA (sorry had to put it there as Trump is part of the "birther" movement since we are also talking about "all the Could Be's" and casually about Clinton).

And you feel fine with people talking without basis, or a shred of evidence (basically lies and nonsense). No wonder of the choice you made in my first paragraph.

Maybe my last post for the next 4-5 hours.

cute and funny .. so you are arguing for sport .. it's cool.  If he is out of control, move to impeach, there really is no other option ... or do you believe it is better to ridicule and complain than actually use that majority in the house?

In my opinion, impeachment is not where we are at. If Mueller's report reveals deeper violations of our laws and a direct threat to National Security, the House should take action.  I doubt that the Senate will take up a trail unless extremely incriminating information of crimes are uncovered. Mueller's report has not been delivered and looks to be > 6 months out.  The facts will be known, eventually.  Once the President leaves office he will not be immune to the course of justice.

Censure is however a better choice, although it has no practical effect in changing the Presidents behavior.

As far as ridiculing and complaining, I see  slamming of people, most of whom are women and people of color in these forums and nothing gets said.  Is it OK to pick on the parts of the government that you disagree with but not accept legitimate observations of the Presidents erratic and irresponsible behavior?

you have not noticed me complaining about the government in any post, pre- or post Trump. Much is made of Trumps demeanor, I do not see a lot of people defending it. For the most part, he has stuck to his campaign promises, when allowed to without interference from liberal judges. The support for the balloon puppet in Britain of Trump in the UK by the members here sickened me, the joy many seem to take in calling out the perceived and actual foibles of Trump sicken me. If it was a women or person of color that was being attacked and they were in his position, I would be equally sickened. Bad behavior regardless of the source is bad behavior. I am an older white male, it has become fashionable to demonize me for my race, my age and my sex, and I am not allowed to be offended. because that would be racist, or sexist or whatever other flavor of the day -ist is in vogue. I believe historical statues of major events should be preserved, not torn down, for that I have been accused of being a Nazi, I believe in legal immigration not the current fad of quasi-refugee status for economic reasons, that makes me anti-immigrant.

If Trump is such a danger to this country and you truly believe it, have the strength of your convictions and call your elected officials and ask that they move forward with impeachment or censure.

So I am assuming you chose the worst of the two evils in 2016.  If you think Trump lies, I would love to hear your justification of the other candidate.  For the record, I have no respect for the politicians in Washington, to me they are just a necessary evil, so the more gridlock the better in my opinion.  At least we avoided moving further to the socialist side of the spectrum.

I would be interested to know why you think most of the people criticized here are female or minority,  or why that matters. Trump is slammed more than anyone in the history of these forums and he is neither.

I am interested to know why you are interested, and why you think it doesn't matter.  I haven't seen where the President was unfairly attacked, and as a very stable genius he should be able to handle it.

...”president Trump is proud to shut down the government for the border wall”...

So what would YOU do, if you were him?  You have been trying for two years to get started on the project, but you keep getting stonewalled at every turn?  He told them to include money for the wall in the budget, they refused, so he fought back in the best way he knew how.  Give-and-take.  Sucks that it affects so many government employees, no doubt.  But Trump has done some amazing businesslike-like dealings since he got into office thus far.  Let’s see who gives first, eh?

I too would like to know why you made the comment that women and minorities are attacked here in CEHST.  Who?  OCA?
