I am no sort of expert on hiring the best people, but why would we consider this a feature of working for the government.  We need to go out of our way to find the best people who are likely taking a cut from the private sector.  This just makes it tougher for the Feds to hire.

Sometimes, there is a pay cut going from private to fed.  But not always.  As to WHY someone would take a cush job without pay?  Security; they know they cannot be fired from their new jobs.  In my experience with hiring government employees, they don’t usually attempt to hire good employees.  Rather, they hire people whose resumes most exactly match the job description, word for word.

My point here is that, for Repeal and Replace ACA, we can see efforts from the Republicans, but for the Wall? ZERO.

In this I agree, neither party wants border security for various reasons.  However, it does seem to be a big item to the American public as well as those on the front lines of the Southern border.

The President does not want or care about a wall on the Southern Border.  The President only wants us talking about what victims we are and how our southern flank is under eminent collapse .  If he gets his wall he will have to distract us with some other canard.

So now President Trump only cares about making us think we are victims?  Is he taking a page from the Democrat playbook?

Should i be outrage for the past shutdowns?

And how long has the current shutdown last? And have you calculated the days of shutdown in 2018 and in 2019?

Of course not.  You seem to think like a liberal (millennial, perhaps?) and those in the past did not affect you, so why would you care?  Having lived thru them, and being affected by them, I wasn’t outraged, I just did the best I could.  Today, I am not affected by the shutdown, and am similarly not outraged.  It’s simply political posturing and chest thumping.  Yes, it affects us little people.  But if you really want to be upset at someone, be mad at congress... why are THEY getting paid, when they are not reaching an agreement?  Trump isn’t getting paid either, for the record.

And yes, I know exactly how many days the shutdown has lasted.  It sucks, but I’m still not worried the end of the world is nigh.

You seem an expert on the president's inner workings, motivations and ultimate plans. As far as victimhood, have you listened to any Democrat that found a microphone in the last 2 years, they have reduced victimhood to an art form

So in order to feel outraged for something, you have to go way back in history, read everything up, feel outrage for all of seemingly similar events and then the current outrage is justified?

Congress - the Majority Leader of the Senate (leading the Republican senators), had been playing dumb, there had been 2 bills passing the House to fund the government which he could just put to vote and bring to the President to sign, and that will fund the government, but he did not do so, why? He pointed his finger to the President (and true enough, the President played a part in this shutdown - need for me to spell out why?).

Trump not getting paid during his own self-initiated shutdown is a, well, self inflicted wound. (he also said he will not take his salary - so him not being paid has always been a non-issue for him, unless someone thinks he is suffering exactly like those 800,000 Fed gov employees.)

I am interested to read more on this - any credible researches or publications that can be cited to show objectively that the wall is a big deal to the American public and those on the Southern border?

I can confirm this to be true for a couple of agencies/departments the VA being one of them to be exact. They want your resume to be spot on even if you have the experience you may not get the interview because your resume isn't worded right or they already have someone in mind and just going through the motions.

There is nothing inner about the Presidents workings, it is all out there on twitter to see.

Ok, so you got nothing, it's fine wasn't expecting much of a response anyway.

Since the issue of past shutdowns had been brought along, maybe one should compare

1. what was the issue that triggered it

2. what compromise were made

3. who held the power when the shutdown happened

4. who caused the shutdown (President not wanting to sign a bill? Were there bills passed that the president refused to sign? etc)

and see if they are all similar (hint: current shutdown started when who was in power in WH, House and Senate? and who refused to sign the bill? and who PROUDLY said he will shutdown the government?)

Still this is beside the point, this should have not happened if the US government made Mexico to pay for the wall, instead of using US money, as what Trump had said and his supporters truly believed.

Hey if you want to defend the President, be my guest.  Don't expect much quarter when he says and does idiotic things, which is daily.  On other threads I see folks poking fun at Ms Occasional Cortex and Pocahontas , whatev.

are you also asking what free college education for all would cost?

the cost to forgive all student loans?

funding universal health care? - Please do not use Bernie's numbers they were total swags, as were Obama's

cherry picking unknown requests for costs is of no help

i did not expect much of a response as well when this was what i got after i asked to see if someone had done some calculations on the cost of maintaining the wall

It makes a difference if one takes what he says figuratively, rather than literally.  In fact, it makes all the difference.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
