Hi, hopefully you get your visa soon.

How long did you wait for your interview date, after your case was transferred to the embassy?

It took 25 days from when my case was received by the embassy until the interview date.

Walaykum Asalaam, I remember my case was sent from the NVC to the embassy and then 5 months later I got an interview date. I’m not sure how long others had to wait but this is what happened to me. Be patient and hopefully you will get a interview date soon!

Salam, Hopefully your fiance got his/ her visa by now. Just a quick question.

When you were informed about your interview date, did the embassy email you and also called your fiance? Or just emailed you? Because I have missed my interview once, don't really know how and what was the cause. ( Found out about it from the reply for my inquiry email). Now they put it back in the queue. I am just trying to not miss it again. TIA

Walaykum Asalaam, no visa yet unfortunately. I think the embassy just emailed me for the interview date and for my fiancé’s appointment at the  medical center. I am so sorry that happened to you. Make sure the embassy has your correct email address and even though they didn’t email my fiancé, make sure both of you are constantly checking. Also check your spam/ junk, just in case it goes in there. Goodluck!

Hmm I am not really sure if it’s a good idea just because I don’t want this to somehow negatively affect your case but to be fair  I not an expert or anything on the K1 visa . My advice  is to email the embassy and ask if you could have your fiancé’s passport back because you two want to meet up in another country. I would also consider asking the embassy if it’s okay for him to travel and if it will impact his case at all. If they don’t reply, call  the embassy using the number on their website. I know you aren’t really supposed to call but it’s worth a shot!

I haven’t seen my fiancé in about a year and a half so I know how hard it is to be apart. I hope the embassy responds and you are able to travel. Goodluck!

Sidenote: If you don’t mind me asking, where are you two trying to meet up? I would love for my fiancé and I to travel somewhere else but I know there is limited places a person  with an Afghan passport can go.

The embassy said it was no problem if we took the passport back to travel. I have traveled with my Afghan fiancé to Dubai, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Uzbekistan.

Ohhh okay that’s really interesting ! I didn’t know those countries  would even let someone with an Afghan passport travel there. Thanks for letting me know!!

It was super easy getting the visas for all the mentioned countries.

any updates? is everyone still in the AP process. It's frustrating that everyone from Kabul get put into AP.

My fiancé has been in AP for 13 months and no updates. Hoping to hear some good news soon!
