Kabul Embassy not replying to emails! K-1 Visa

Hi everyone! So I am currently  going  through the K-1 visa process with my fiancé who lives in Afghanistan. His interview was in April and we have been in AP ever since. Every once in a while my fiancé and I would email the  U.S. embassy in Kabul to ask for an update and they would always reply with a really generic email. I emailed  them first week of December and then my fiancé emailed them in the middle of December but they still haven’t  replied.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do ? Was hoping maybe this was a  a sign that they are almost done ?

Are you also dealing with the Kabul embassy? If yes what stage are you in? If your in AP, how many months has it been?

Yes. We had the interview at Kabul Embassy. It's been 8 months since the interview and we are still in AP.

Question for my fellow Afghan applicants:

Would it be a good idea to ask for my fiancé's passport back from the embassy? We're considering meeting in a third party country for a vacation, since my employer (government) won't allow me to travel to Afghanistan. I know taking his passport  would obviously slow down the eventual issuance process, but...we haven't seen each other in two years, and judging by the AP times, I don't anticipate the embassy will be needing his passport anytime soon.

That is, if I can get the embassy to respond to my emails. *there's no emoji to represent laughing through bitter bitter tears, but imagine it here* 😂

Hmm I am not really sure if it’s a good idea just because I don’t want this to somehow negatively affect your case but to be fair  I not an expert or anything on the K1 visa . My advice  is to email the embassy and ask if you could have your fiancé’s passport back because you two want to meet up in another country. I would also consider asking the embassy if it’s okay for him to travel and if it will impact his case at all. If they don’t reply, call  the embassy using the number on their website. I know you aren’t really supposed to call but it’s worth a shot!

I haven’t seen my fiancé in about a year and a half so I know how hard it is to be apart. I hope the embassy responds and you are able to travel. Goodluck!

Sidenote: If you don’t mind me asking, where are you two trying to meet up? I would love for my fiancé and I to travel somewhere else but I know there is limited places a person  with an Afghan passport can go.

I don’t think it affects the issuing process. They still process the visa normally after you take your passport. Then when the visa is done they just tell you they need your passport back. I read about a guy who took his passport to leave, and then got word like 2 weeks later that his visa was ready.

Yes, my fiancé received a generic email about administrative processing from them last night.  He had emailed them almost a month ago asking for an update about our case.

So, they replied after one month?

Did your case get updated during this one months or it got updated when you got the reply? I am asking this because i emailed them on January 7th, I got an update on January 8th but haven't got any response yet.
