This is great news!

USPS send me email confirmation in written that my documents were delivered on December 28, 2018 so I am relax from that point and happy at least my emails, calls worked and USPS admitted their staff mistake of incorrectly scanned packet.

My country has also approved my NOS for waiver clearance and waiting for Embassy to send NOS anytime this week. But DoS site has not updated if they have received my documents. But now I am waiting based on other members suggestion that should give them some time.

So things are on track for me too. Thanks for update and let's keep all posted! :)

Yay! Im glad yours are on place. Yes. Crossing fingers, i hope we’ll get updates this week. If you dont mind me asking, which country are you from? 😊

Hello everyone, I was on a J1 with Fulbright from 2016 to 2018 for my masters. Now I am doing my PhD under F1 and still have the 2 year residency requirement. In the meantime,  I  got married to a US citizen and I was told that if I travel outside of the US, I will not be admitted back. I need to travel to my home country to conduct research. I am very depressed because of my situation. I asked a few lawyers and they told me that there is no hope in applying to the waiver because of the funding

The issue that you actually have is that now you are married to a USC and, therefore, you have immigrant intent. One of the requirements for getting and entering on a F1 visa is to have non-immigrant intent. So, in order to come back you would need a CR-1 visa, which they won't grant because of the 2 YRR.

That said, from what I've seen, is very rare for Fulbright to get waivers. Do some research and, if you feel like, apply and see what happens. I would keep in mind a plan B, though, in case you need to comply with the 2 YRR.

If you were a J2, I would recommend reading a very interesting forum post about a special provision of the law (Search for "Tec_man J2" on Google).
