So my oath ceremony was yesterday at Los Angeles Convention Center. Thousands of people became citizens. It was crazy crowded and it took a while to get out of there after the ceremony because the waiting to get the certificates was long. Thank goodness everything went well and I got my certificate with my name changed as I wanted. The ceremony was nice and I got so emotional when they played songs.

Finally this journey is over and now I just have to deal with changing my name in all my documents.

I will never forget how helpful visa journey people were, and I wish everyone who is still waiting, the best. Don’t  lose hope, it will happen soon when you less expect it. God bless you all and America.

Congratulations Liz. best of luck to you.

Hello Everyone,

I had my interview yesterday at the Chicago field office, the officer escorted me into the room and began by asking me the following questions:

What does the presidents cabinet do ?

When was the constitution written ?

Whom did the US fight in world war 2 ?

What is the party of the president ?

Name three of the thirteen original colonies ?

After that he made me read The government collects our taxes , and I had to write " We pay our taxes"

He then asked me a few questions about my job, wife's job and whether we had children. He asked for latest tax returns and proof that were still married . I gave him our bank account statements and utility bills.

Afterwards he said that I was approved and asked me a few questions about my background (informally)

He was definitely stern (all business like ) at the beginning but lightened up as we went through the motions.

Congratulations !

Hello! just wanted to share an update that might help some peeps. my oath ceremony was scheduled on july 18th in milwaukee where I applied. But i moved since and changed my address, I am assuming my change of address didn't go through on time.

because I didn't feel like paying a $400 ticket, I sent a letter at the USCIS milwaukee so they change my oath ceremony location. didn't hear from them until the day before the ceremony, which is fine since per my researches and calls, if you don't attend it, you have one pass. they will reschedule you anyways.

today I got the letter uploaded on my profile that I was scheduled for the ceremony in Fairfax Virginia on August 24th. I can now relax and wait !

bottom line, if you can't attend it, there is always an alternative !

Chicago Applicants, my status change on 07/26 to " Your oath ceremony has been scheduled", I still don't see the document in the Documents list ? How long does it take typically for the document to appear ? or to receive the snail mail ?

it takes a couple days to show up. 2 days maximum.

Here is my torture experience today:😪

I was working overnight the day of my interview so no sleep and i was standing on my legs with the power of Redbull.

I arrived at 10:30am and there was not anybody there for security check but as soon as went to the third floor it was around 30 people in line for check in.after 15 min it was my turn and directed to the door 2. the ticket machine was down so officers were coming out and yell for the applicant. one hour passed and people came after me they were already gone, i scared so went to the check in lady and asked why being delayed, she apologized and said limited officers and they call in order they receive the cases.two hours passed still nothing and third floor was full due to oath ceremony people.three hours passed and i got really worry what the hack happened. after three and half hour i heard my name from the other side of auditorium so i went to the very nice lady which she was a supervisor and she told me we were concerned if you are the person that applied😨 i was socked for a second and she asked me about my green card and my ID and passport. after she verified she said for some crazy reason we thought you are a different person from the actual person which applied. and plus the officer that assigned your case to had to leave because of whatever reason. so she take my case and told me i am going to assign your case to another officer. when i was waiting for three hours, it was an officer as soon as i saw him i prayed to God to not my case to be interviewed with that officer. i waited 20 more minutes and the supervisor came back and informed that she assigned my case to that officer that i was praying the whole time to be interviewed with. as soon as i heard his name i already imagined the decision can not be made at the front of my eyes. so 15 min later he called me. very fast went to the civic and english test. super easy and then he start asking those yes and no questions. and then he asked me to sign several pages on Ipod and print the letter and i saw it already decision can not be made on it. he told me that he needs his supervisor to review the case and they will make a decision. i asked in 120 days and he said no within a week. then he escorted me out. the whole process took five hours. i check in at 10:45 and came out at 3:50pm 😢 and my online status did not changed an still shows interview was schedule d

Hello @Andriyyy - sorry to hear about your experience ! It seems like you had an awful date, but don't worry. Hopefully, they will approve your case within a week and you will be in line for the oath ceremony.
