I was told i don’t need the infopass unless i am traveling, that the fact that my green caed expires doesn’t mean i am illegal, but i am not sure if that is true or not

I agree with you. There is however a mixed opinion on this. I would suggest may be calling USCIS and clarifying before your infopass appointment.

I just called and cancelled the infopass appointment. I was told that not getting the stamp won’t make me illegal, and that the stamp is usually for purposes of traveling or showing to my employer of my legal status.

still, if i don’t get a date for my ceremony soon, I will probably get the stamp on August, just in case.

I didn't get an email, but my status on myuscis did get updated to "You've been scheduled to attend an oath ceremony", but the system never sent me an email, in fact I got an email a week later telling me there had been no change. I had my interview on June 13th, then my status was updated on June 24th, and I got the letter on the mail on the 27th.

My wife, who is also getting a name change, and who attended the interview before me on June 12th, just got her letter this week and is scheduled for the oath ceremony in Alexandria on August 15th.

My wife and I both had green cards, we got them on the same day (employment green cards). And we both applied for citizenship (and name changes) on the same day, January 3. She completed her interview on June 12, and I did on June 13. I got my oath letter on June 24, and she did on July 17. I really wish we had both been able to complete the oath ceremony together, but for some reason hers is next month even though she was approved before me. I just went to my oath ceremony yesterday at the Alexandria Court House and I thought it was really great, and I'm very happy that I'm done with immigration stuff! And I guess I'll get to witness another ceremony at the Alexandria courthouse, this time as a guest, next august 15. :)

So my oath ceremony was yesterday at Los Angeles Convention Center. Thousands of people became citizens. It was crazy crowded and it took a while to get out of there after the ceremony because the waiting to get the certificates was long. Thank goodness everything went well and I got my certificate with my name changed as I wanted. The ceremony was nice and I got so emotional when they played songs.

Finally this journey is over and now I just have to deal with changing my name in all my documents.

I will never forget how helpful visa journey people were, and I wish everyone who is still waiting, the best. Don’t  lose hope, it will happen soon when you less expect it. God bless you all and America.

Hello Everyone,

I had my interview yesterday at the Chicago field office, the officer escorted me into the room and began by asking me the following questions:

What does the presidents cabinet do ?

When was the constitution written ?

Whom did the US fight in world war 2 ?

What is the party of the president ?

Name three of the thirteen original colonies ?

After that he made me read The government collects our taxes , and I had to write " We pay our taxes"

He then asked me a few questions about my job, wife's job and whether we had children. He asked for latest tax returns and proof that were still married . I gave him our bank account statements and utility bills.

Afterwards he said that I was approved and asked me a few questions about my background (informally)

He was definitely stern (all business like ) at the beginning but lightened up as we went through the motions.
