So I had my N-400 interview taken at Charlotte, NC field office. I was APPROVED!!! Finally I can see the finish line. The interview  itself wemt perfectly fine. I went in half hour early, called by IO 5 minutes before the original time of 10:35. The IO was very friendly and funny. Took the oath before sitting down, he then asked for my passport, GC and State ID. After that asked for the marriage certificate and my wife's passport. Just confirmed my details where I lived, if traveled outside of the US. Did not ask for any extra evidence though I took copy of everything in case he asked.

Then came the US history questions:

1- Group of people taken to America and sold as slaves.

2- What happened at the Constitution convention.

3- 13 stripes on the flag of the US.

4- Governor of state of NC.

5- Who did the US fight in WW2.

6- Current President of the US. When answered correctly, the IO joked that he wanted to ask the tough one in the last. lol everyone please take this in a lighter mood.

Then he asked to read and write. Passed.

Confirmed everything about the name, dob, address. Said congratulations I have approved your application and you will get an oath letter in next few days. He said they are struggling with backed up applications so taking oath on the same day is not possible. I was fine with it. Handed me the approval letter and I was on my merry way.

Best of luck to everyone waiting.

1 month and 3 days after my (horrible) interview, I have finally received today the email we all are waiting for... I have been placed in line for oath ceremony!!! Yay....

now i wonder, my GC expires 08/08, if my oath ceremony is schedule after that date, do I still need an infopass?  I already have the appointment for the 22th of this month for the infopass.

When will i know when my oath ceremony will be held?

I had my interview yesterday. I answered all the 6 civics questions and passed the english reading/writing test. Everything went nicely and the officer handed the letter with tick marking the pass for english & civic test but he ticked the "decision cannot be made". I didn't check that till I came back to my car. 😭. I see my status changed to "you have attended the interview" but still no approval.

Please help if any of you had similar experience. I really worried now 😢

Atlast got a call from the USCIS office for Oath ceremony. I am still waiting for my online status to change but the officer emailed me the address to attend on Jul 18th. He said the regular mail might come later as we don't have much time. Anyway very glad that will be done with this long journey  :)

Thanks you everyone and Good Luck to everyone waiting!

I would suggest that you should go for the Infopass appointment and get the stamp as planned. Since you have a very short duration of time left in GC expiry, it is best you don't jeopardize your legal stay now while waiting for the oath ceremony letter. Although your application for naturalization is approved, you are not a legal citizen until you take the oath and you have that certificate of naturalization. Hope this answers your question. All the best.

I was told i don’t need the infopass unless i am traveling, that the fact that my green caed expires doesn’t mean i am illegal, but i am not sure if that is true or not
