Received my naturalisation certificate back in the mail yesterday (not folded or creased, which was a nice touch), and my passport book and card in the mail today. Book comes using Priority Mail, but the card on normal first class mail...

Well, I got an email last night that my passport book has been printed and will be mailed to me. They gave a tracking number. As of now, USPS has no info yet when I search the tracking number though.

My dates are (Expedited):

1). I mailed from NYC on 03/02/19 via Priority Mail Express, but this was a Saturday. Per the tracking number, USPS didn’t mail my stuff until Sunday, and package arrived at the PA address on 3/4/19. So 3/3/19 is probably my mailing date.

2). My application appeared on the tracker on the government’s website on 3/6/19, which is 2 days after it arrived in PA and 3-4 days after I mailed it.

3) Again, I got the notification that it will be mailed to me last night, which is 3/8/19. That’s 5-6 days after my mailing date, and 2 days after it became trackable on government’s website.

The email said it will arrive by 3/13/19. As I paid for 1-2 day shipping, I expect it by 3/11 or 3/12. Overall, my passport book will come about 8 -9 days after I mailed it.

I think the whole 2-3 weeks processing time is just to cover themselves for delays, or to better handle public inquires. They under-promise in order to over-deliver.

It's also important to note that right now it's the off-season for traveling, so there is less demand for passports and processing times are shorter.

Once we get into May/June/July and the summer months we'll likely see an uptick in the demand, and processing times will lengthen as a result.

Hey!

I would say that right now is peak season to apply for a passport as many people are applying before summer vacation hits, which starts in the end of May but still, I asked for expedited service and got my passport super fast!

It seems like Department of State works as efficiently as the DHS. Applied on 02/20 (routine service) and my application is not even trackable yet.

I noticed the above entries vanished from the excel sheet. If this was done by respective users very well no issues, otherwise I am going to re-add them in a little while, so that others can benefit out of this data.

If the entries were removed out of privacy concerns, one other way to deal with it is to put Unknown as username and still have your data added. Forums users are seldom interested in who exactly applied, but rather when was the application done and when was the process complete. Even after that you don't want your entry appearing in the excel sheet, please respond here and I will have it removed promptly

Hmmm. There seem to be a bunch of others missing, too. The last version of the chart here on VJ has 29 entries, but the spreadsheet only has 22 at the moment (even after someone restored mine that had gone missing -- thanks), and if you look at the row numbers to the left, several numbers are missing as gaps.

(I really do love the idea of the spreadsheet, but if it's buggy and/or someone is either accidentally or maliciously removing entries, are we better off just using the more cumbersome but harder-to-meddle-with VJ chart? Just wondering.)

Even I noticed several other entries going missing right at the time when I was updating the sheet for you 4, and after which I just got a bit lazy to update the rest of it (it tedious job). I do plan to bring both sheets in sync over the weekend if not any soon.

How about giving it another chance before we completely move back to VJ charting. Assuming the updater did it inadvertently and not maliciously (I wonder what malicious reason/s could one have to delete entries from an excel sheet), lets rebuild the sheet one more time. However if in future we observe entries going missing lets move back to VJ charting.

Quick note: While i like to maintain excel sheet based charting so as to make addition/edit/analytics easier, my efforts to do that are by no means an attempt to discourage any member to continue using VJ charting as well. At best I leave it up to the individual member's discretion to use whatever reporting mechanism they like and not be restricted to using one over the other. Goal is to share data so that curious members like me can estimate when to expect things 😊
